Auleren is concerned over how coordinated the bandits seem. He wants you to try to find some information to help him understand their behavior.
1) Search the iksar bandits for any clues they might have. Search the weapons and equipment of the bandits for anything unusual. Search through their books to see if they have anything of interest. From the quest journal:
"Auleren Faithheart has asked that I search the exiled bandit camps found to the north of Omen's Call, and look for clues as to what might have caused an aggressive shift in the behavior of the bandits."
There are a couple of different camps. The one directly north of Omen's Call is close to the water, and is called the Iksar Bandit Camp (you'll get a POI for discovering it). Go there and kill the Bandits until you get an auto-drop of "a sealed note." That takes care of the clues.
Then you will find "a stack of elvish books", which auto-updates your (and your group members, if they have the quest) quest for searching their books. For the weapon, you'll find "an elvish sword" on the ground near a tree, almost on the outskirts of camp (25, -497).
2) Return to Auleren Faithheart.
3) After you speak with them to complete your quest, you get your coin reward, XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Calling in the Calvary.
