You have spoken to Makota Shoda (near 140, -115, 161), who wanders along a wide area along Omen's Call beach in the Fens of Nathsar; you have shared "Journal of Wu, Seeker of Enlightenment" and "Teachings of Master Wu" with him.

Quest text:
Is it luck or fate that has led me to meet Master Makoto Shoda in Kunark? To better serve Quellious, the sensei has undergone a spiritual journey for enlightenment. I've helped him begin his path by lending him two books I've come across in my travels. In return for the books, he has suggested that I speak to the Chronicler of the Ashen Order. It is his hope that by doing so, I will... (missing text)

Quest text:
I need to speak to the Chronicler of the Ashen Order.

Head out to Sinking Sands and take the carpet from the foot of the docks to Twin Tears. From there you can run to the easternmost Pillar of Flames zone in. Once there, head to the monk encampment and find Chronicler Lao (44, -56, -1212). The Chronicler will update your quest and asks that you locate his lost student.

Quest text:
I should find Chronicler Lao's student and make sure she's okay.

Lao tells you that she went out into the desert to meditate. You will find his student, Tobee, a very unhappy girl at (1,171, -98, -1,178), near the Sun Spires in Pillars of Flame.

She is held captive by 3 bandit thugs (83v) led by Korroz the Bandit (83^). He is a tough-talking bad guy...

"Well, well, well. Look what showed up at the party. We hadn't decided what to do with the girl yet, but we had our ideas. It turns (out) that she also makes great bait for coin carrying fools"
Let her go.
"You're not threatening me, are you? You have no idea what we'll do to you!"
I said, let her go. (by this point the theme music from "Kung Fu" is probably playing in your head)
"You hear that boys, they want to fight! Just what we need to get things going. Get them!"
You'll regret this.

It is possible to duo this encounter with a Monk and a healer.

Speak with Tobee and she will give you the tome "History of the Hand" (a house item), and will update your quest.

"I am so glad you came by when you did. Thank you so much for getting me out of that mess."
You are welcome. What happened?
"I was just studying and meditating on my book when they jumped me from behind and dragged me here. They were very angry when they found out I didn't have any money. I am lucky that you were traveling this way."
What book were you studying" Chronicler Lao said it was what I needed to start my path.
"It's called "The History of the Hand". It tells the story of how the Hand of Serenity came to Norrath and what happened to it. It would honor me greatly to pass the book to you."
Thank you very much. Now, I think it's time for us to get you home.
"Thank you, but I'm ok now. I have much to think on and I do not want to be a bother as you start on this important path. Thank you again, I am in your debt. Safe journeys to you."
Safe Journeys.

Quest text:
I should let Chronicler Lao know his student is okay now.

Run back to Lao and your quest will update further.

"I have received word that Tobee has returned safely. Thank you for looking after my daughter."
Daughter? I thought she was a student.
"Yes, but cannot one be both? And shouldn't a child be a student of the father? I see you have the history she was reading. Have you read it yourself?"
I have. It says one of the elders of the blades returned here long ago but left to the continent of Kunark to find the others. Why did some of the elders go to Kunark?
"Following the Battle of Defiance, a theory surfaced that Grandmaster Tynn, the founder of the iksar's Swifttail Caste, may not have embraced evil as others of his kind did. This thought was prompted y writings of his that were discovered after the war, that hinted at his beliefs and training instructions. Some of the elder monks of the blades hoped that while on their quests of Serenity they would come across more of these teachings while on Kunark."
The one that returned, what did he say before he left again?
"His only report was to say the directions his brethren went to carry their messages of peace. He knew that one had gone north, one went to the home of his former enemies, and two had gone to Kunark. The then left to find those on the eastern continent."
I see. Were they ever heard from again?
"No, and the Hand of Serenity was lost with them."
So this is the path that Master Shoda has begun. Thank you for the information, Chronicler. If I may, I'd love to hold on to this book for now.
"You may. The path you have begun is a perilous one, but one that can lead to enlightenment. Fare well in your journey."
Goodbye Sensei.

Quest text:
I should let Master Shoda know that I spoke to the Chronicler and learned about the "Hand of Serenity".

Back to Omen's Call we go - meet you there!

You'll find Master Shoda wandering the same path along the shore of the Lake of Ill Omen, between Omen's Call and Sathir's Span. He will update your quest and hand you back the Wu books you loaned him earlier.

"Ah, Wren, you have returned. It is good to see you again. Have you spoken to the Ashen Order Chronicler yet?"
Yes, I have, Sensei. I learned of the Hand of Serenity. Is that what you are here for?
"I do not know where my path takes me, but I believe the Hand may play a part. I wish to serve the Tranquil Child, but I feel wholly inadequate as her chosen prophet. I believe that if the hand were to be found, it could be used to teach the world Peace and Serenity."
The History of the Hand says the instrument was broken and the pieces were carried by the elders on missions of Peace. Is it your quest to find the blades?
"After meditation and pondering on it, I have coem to know that my path won't lead me to the shards. The mind and heart are willing, but I am old and that path is for another. I believe that path that lies ahead is for you."
Me? But it is you who is seeking enlightenment.
"We should begin the search for the fates of the five monks and the blades they carried."
The Chronicler said one of the monks went north, another went to the home of his enemies, and that the remaining three came to this continent. Do you know where those three went?
"The only information I could find about the elder monks here was an old account kept by a family at Teren's Grasp that predated the founding of that city. It told the legend of two human monks, one going to the dragons, the other to the iksar. A year later, another came searching for the two. He headed east into the jungle. The account is very old but I believe it to be credible."
That gives us five directions to begin the search.
"Then all that is left is to walk the path. May Quellious (guide) our footsteps. Farewell."
Farewell, Sensei.

Quest text:
I need to find and recover the Blades of Balance, Peace, Order, Harmony and Tranquility.

You may obtain these blades in any order.

BLADE OF BALANCE:

In Jarsath Wastes, take the Skyfire Mountain sokokar post for the quickest way to find the necessary NPC, Flink the Impish (-906, 245, 766).

Once there, follow the road towards Veeshan's Peak, and take the right branch (visible on your in game map). You'll come to a river of lava. You'll find a safe place to cross at the neck of a large Sarnakky-type head at the end of the river. You'll see Flink, a little chromatic drake, flying around.

"Hehehehe! Another has come to play with the scales! Touch it, touch it!"
What does it do?
"Oh just touch it! I've been waiting for so long to see the fun! You want the little blade, don't you, monk?!"
Tell me what the scale does.
"It gives you the blade! ...if you can balance the scale and survive... hehehehe!"
What weights do I use?
"Hearts! Bloody dangerous hearts! You can't take the test until you've put yourself at risk!"
Hearts? More than one? That blade doesn't weigh more than two hearts of any kind.
"Hehehe! It's dragon magic, silly! The dragons don't take kindly to annoying mortals preaching 'Balance'."
What happened to the monk that carried the blade?
"The dragons were annoyed that this lesser one was trying to preach to them 'balance'. Looking for sport, the dragons challenged him to demonstrate this balance by combating his inner demons. He accepted and they used their magics to give his demons form. He lost... hehehe! Oh that was good fun!"
So the scale would begin the same test...
"Good guess! Now get some hearts, not too many and not too few! The scale wants Vak Voth Zak!"
I see. Well, if dangerous hearts are needed, then I think I'll collect some from the drakes and wyverns around here. Balance for the loss of the monk.
"Yes! Drake and wyvern hears will do... wait... what?!"
I'll be back.

Flink will tell you to use hearts (from Drakes and Wyverns nearby) to balance the scales. You will need precisely 57 of these Bloody Draconic Hearts in order to progress the quest. You can find them on Skyfire And Ashfire Drakes, as well as Elder (and regular) Skyfire Wyverns. Once you have the right amount, go back and click on the scales to place the hearts on them.

A level 81^ clone of your character called Aggression will appear. Kill it, and click the scales again to collect your blade of balance.

BLADE OF PEACE:

First you'll need to go to the top of the waterfall in Kunzar's Jungle (along the river from the Tabernacle of Pain sokokar post) (376 7 -275).

Break through the wall, and work your way to the grave mound of Kaiaren of the One Eye (427 9 -365). Right click to dig in the grave mound.

Once you have Kaiaren's Scroll, you can head to Lavastorm. Assuming you've been here before, take the portal from the Shrine of Storms to Solusek Eye, and hail the Fire Spirit floating nearby in the lava (-242 84 -40).

Hail a Fire Sprite.
"You want it, don't you... You want what he carried... you can't have it!"
What are you?
"One that hates your kind! One that will destroy all of your order! ...but not now, not until all have returned. The Celestial Fists will have their revenge!"
Eejag, I challenge you for the blade you hold!

A second or two after the challenge, Eejag, a 85^^^ flaming iksar, spawns. He is pretty tough, and most Monks should take a group along. After he dies, you get the blade of peace.

BLADE OF ORDER:

You must have completed the Trials of Tynnonium quest, and have some positive Kunzar Jungle Villagers faction (unsure how much).

Speak with the Shackle Grandmaster (-114 -40 184).

"Do not think I share in Raakaz's enthusiasm. You did earn your Tynnonium Shackle and rank, and I must respect that, but I do not trust you, outsider."
Why don't you trust me?
"Because I must respect you as an equal, I will answer your question. "Yes, over a century ago, a human monk came to Cabalis preaching "Order". The Swifttail did not need to hear of such words from a human, for they were already the personification of Order and Balance."
What happened?
"The human wished to join the ranks so that they might listen to him. He underwent the trials, similar to what you experienced, but his test came to a quicker end. He was unable to complete the climb the Rungs." (sic)
The monk, did he carry a special blade? What happened to it?
"He did, and the Swifttails came into possession of it. It has been entrusted from one Grandmaster to the next and carried from the Court of Pain to the Tabernacle of Pain."
It is important that I obtain that blade. May I have it?
"No! The Blade of Order must not leave this place. Our traditions are in jeopardy and our ways are in danger. You will not complete the destruction of our order by taking it from us."
I see... I must find a way to get the blade.

Next, head just across the river to the south and speak with Kindo Youngfist (-106, -84, 296).
"Whoa! You made it to Grandmaster! I've never seen a Tynnonium Shackle monk up close! No one can refuse your challenge now. Not even Grandmaster Kaybal!"
Interesting. I can request a challenge of Kaybal?
"Yeah, but I wouldn't if I were you unless there was something you REALLY wanted. Kaybal's wisdom is only surpassed by his skills in combat."
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

Now you are ready to go back and challenge the Grandmaster to battle!
This time, when he refuses the blade, say:

By my right and title as Grandmaster, I must challenge you for possession of the Blade of Order.
"You dare invoke the challenge right... My honor requires me to accept, but know this, I will die before I let you take the blade from is. I knew allowing outsiders into our ranks would destroy us, but it will not happen on my watch."
I do not seek to destroy the order, but I must have the blade.

He will tell you to meet him on the platform.
He's level 85^^^, so bring some friends.

Speak to with the Swifttail Trialmaster (the same NPC that started your shackle arena challenges).

"You have challenged Grandmaster Kaybal?! You must have a deathwish or there is something you REALLY want."
The latter. I am ready.
"Then enter the ring. I'll notify the Clays that they'll have a mess to clean up after this..."
No need.

This time, the walls of the arena are not raised, and you may use a full group to defeat Grandmaster Kaybal. He will slowly walk down from his platform and the fight will begin! After you win the battle, go back to speak with Kaybal one last time to get your blade of order.

"You have defeated me, and although I am unwilling, my honor requires that I must give you the blade. You have earned it. Now leave me as I must contemplate the future of my order."
I promise you that my taking possession of the blade won't destroy the Swifttail Caste. I am to bring a greater knowledge back to benefit all.
"We shall see. You have accomplished impressive things here, but that is a grand declaration. Go and do as you say, Grandmaster of the Tynnonium Shackle."
Thank you, Grandmaster Kaybal.

BLADE OF HARMONY:

In Shard of Fear, go through the steps to spawn Terror. As you get close to Terror, the mob you need, Elder Jheg, will spawn. Killing both groups can be quite difficult, so try to separate them if you can, by pet pulling, or using Feign Death and group Feign Death to your advantage. After the mob dies you will recive your blade of harmony.

BLADE OF TRANQUILITY:

Go to Sebilis. Head south to the Mezzanine, and then jump off the east side into the water far below (aim carefully!). Swim to the underwater tunnel to the southeast, and straight down the waterflow until you can exit in the jail area. If is not a long swim, so you should not need water breathing. Do use a combination of Jaguar Totems and Feign Death to get to your destination if travelling alone.

You'll need to open a jail cell in the western jail cell area. Once inside, Elder Jaago (72, -132, 102) will spawn and offer you a sub-quest, "The Broken Hand: Bones of the Elder".

After you have all of your blades, your quest updates:

· I should return to Master Shoda near the Lake of Ill Omen.

"Greetings again, Wren. How fares your journey to find the blades of the hand?"
Sensei Shoda, I have recovered all five blades!
"We must make them whole and reforge the hand."
How are we to do this?
"I have spent much time in prayer and meditation while you were out seeking the blades. It has been revealed to me that the creator of the Hand of Serenity based its design on a technique he learned from one he studied under, here on this continent. That knowledge is still here, and we must find it."
Where do we look for the information?
"This information would be despised by the people in control here, but too valuable to destroy. It will be hidden away and fiercely guarded. If you can find this text, we will be able to rebuild the Hand of Serenity."
I will begin my search.

You receive the Collected Blades of Serenity as an inventory item.

After speaking with Master Shoda, your quest updates again:

· I need to find the hidden information related to the Hand of Serenity.

This involves completing a 7-page tome/collection quest called "The Forbidden Pages". Here are where you can find the pages, which either look like ? on the ground, or are pages in chest/body drops:

Charasis: Vaults of Eternal Sleep:

Page 1:
In the golem ring-event room, in the northeastern corner, you'll find it on the ground.

Page 2:
There is a pit outside the Praetor's room, on the left side, when facing the entrance. The page is on the ground at the bottom there.

Page 6:
This is found on the Praetor, the end-boss to the zone, as a body drop.

Charasis: Maidens Chamber:

Page 3:
This is a ground spawn, on the edge of the octagon on the floor, in the Hallowed Hall. This is the "Hallowed Hall" revive location, which I am sure most have been unlucky enough to have awoken at before.

Page 4:
This is a ground spawn in a small area at the bottom of the retractable bridge (48, -42, 153).

Page 5:
After killing the Impaler, this page will appear in his chest. Do not worry about someone else looting it by accident; you are the only one who can see it.

Page 7:
After killing Drusella Sathir, the end-boss to the zone, this page will appear in her chest. As with the previous drop, only you will be able to see the page in the chest, so it cannot be looted by accident.

Turn the assembled pages in to your favorite collection quest NPC. Mervos (North Qeynos, just west of the Claymore) and I have a special relationship, so I went to him for my update. You will see the message "I gathered and bound a compilation of notes relating to one Grandmaster Tynn." You will be rewarded both with "The Forbidden Pages", a tome which can be placed in your house, and "Diagram: Claw of Instruction", which is a recipe.

· I may be able to use the diagram for the Claw of Instruction to reforge the Hand of Serenity.

Get to a workbench, scribe the recipe, and prepare to craft. You'll need:

3 Tynnonium Clusters
1 Rough Fire Emerald
20 Deklium Clusters
20 Ferrite Clusters
1 Collected Blades of Serenity
(the bag you got after getting all the blades)
10 Smoldering Coal

After you craft the weapon, your quest updates:

· I should show Master Shoda the reformed Hand of Serenity.

Go back to Master Shoda near Omen's Call in the Fens of Nathsar, and speak with him to get your reward, the Hand of Serenity!

"Have you found the hidden knowledge pertaining to the design of the Hand?"
I have done one better. I have reforged the Hand with the knowledge I found!
I... I don't believe it. I've seen it in vision and in revelation, but nothing compares to actually witnessing it. You walked your path magnificently, Wren. The Tranquil One compels me now to bless the sacred artifact.
Would you please, Sensei?
Thank you for assisting me on this path of enlightenment. I now feel ready to take upon myself the calling that the Tranquil One has desired of me.
That is good to hear. Now what do we do with the Hand of Serenity? Will you use it to teach others?

Congratulations... now you must decide if you want the additional challenge of upgrading your weapon to mythical status by completing "The Mended Hand".
