A Sleeping Stone: Restoring Valor

This is part of the Mystic Epic Quest series.

This is the second of three quests that Takk awards you all at the same time, upon completion of "A Sleeping Stone: Dark Shadows"
The other two quests are "A Sleeping Stone: Dark Enlightenment" and "A Sleeping Stone: Great Beasts". These may be run at the same time and completed in any order. All must be completed before you return to Takk, however!

Takk says to you, "Although I cannot guide you to the Elder TrueSpirits myself, in my meditations I have heard the names of those you must seek... they have spoken to me, guiding me to in turn guide you."
You say to Takk, "Who is the next TrueSpirit I should seek out?"
Takk says to you, "You must search for the spirit of preservation, the TrueSpirit known as Rel'dekk. Take care with Rel'dekk, as he has more of a disdain for mortals and their accomplishments than many other TrueSpirits show."
You say to Takk, "I will search for Rel'dekk."

This results in A Sleeping Stone: Restoring Valor

Quest text:
Takk has informed me that I must seek out the Elder Truespirit within Norrath. I should look for the TrueSpirit known as Rel'dekk, and seek out his wisdom.
- I must seek out the Elder trueSpirit known as Rel'dekk.
- I am to seek out the Elder TrueSpirits. I must search for the one known as Rel'dekk.

Rel'dekk's altar is found in Thundering Steppes (475, 0, 741).
You'll find the altar just northwest of the Crater Mine and the Dead River Road, along the edge of the dry riverbed.

Right click on the altar to zone into A Spiritual Pocket. You'll see Rel'dekk nearby, in ghostly hawk form. Speak to him.

Rel'dekk says, 'I have been watching you, Brasse. Unlike the others, I am skeptical of your ability to complete the task that must be done, and that we are taking quite a gamble in trusting in you.'
You say, 'I am sorry you feel that way, honored one. What is it I can do to change your mind?'

Rel'dekk says, 'I doubt that you can. Even if you pass the test before you, I believe it only proves that you are lucky, or just resourceful enough to get by... that is not going to be enough in the trials ahead.'

You say, 'I will try to prove you wrong, then. What is it you would have me do?'
Rel'dekk says, 'The mortals that you fought before in the Hidden Vale do more than just guard their idol. They are actively seeking out strong souls to corrupt, so that they might create an army made of the spirits of heroes past.'
You say, 'Where are they gathering these spirits from?'
Rel'dekk says, 'There is a tomb filled with the caskets of fallen heroes, within the fortress known as Stormhold. Seek out the Hall of Valor, and defeat the defilers found inside. You will also need to purify the caskets, and help the spirits return to their rest. Do this, and I might change my mind.'
You say, 'If that is what it will take, I will do this. Farewell.'

Quest text:
- I must clear out the Tomb of Valor of the defilers.
- Cleanse the defiled sarcophagi in the Defiled Tomb of Valor.
- I should watch for the leader of defilers in the Tomb of Valor, and defeat him.

The Defiled Tomb of Valor is located in Stormhold, and is a variation of the Tomb of Valor, with the same zone-in. Be sure to choose the correct instance!

When you zone in, each party member must be prepared to arrive under fire, because the two closest cultists will immediately attack. With luck you will all zone in in time to save each other.

Once they are overcome (and folks are rezzed as needed), you will have time to look around you. The Tomb is very small, without much room to maneuver. In all there are 9 cultists and the leader.

Sellok Cultist Runecaller
Sellok Cultist Soulburner
Sellok Cultist Netherblade

All of these mobs are level 80^^, and will present few difficulties after the initial pair are taken down. The rest can all be singel pulled.

The named though... he is another matter altogether.
Serrin Trelmist 82^^^
The trouble with this fellow is that he uses any melee damage as an excuse to heal... a lot. Melee damage includes pets, ripostes, and many procs. Interestingly, ranged attacks are not counted, and work like spells to drain Serrin's health.

I completed this instance with Mystic, Warden, Ranger, Conjuror (with ranged pet) and a Wizard. The fight consisted of a chaotic but fun root, shoot and scoot circus as we ran Serrin back and forth till dead, with the healers in the middle. I count this as my favorite fight in the entire quest series.

Quest text:
I have defeated the defilers in the Tomb of Valor, and should return to Rel'dekk.

Rel'dekk says, 'Well, here you are again. How went your search?'
You say, 'I was able to purify the temple as you requested.'
Rel'dekk says, 'Well. I admit that I had thought you would have failed in this task, and that your spirit would be added to the dark spirits guarding the altar now. But it seems you have managed to once again get by as necessary. I still don't think you will pull through when it counts, but you have passed your test this time.'
You say, 'Thank you. What wisdom might you have for me, then?'
Rel'dekk says, 'You need something to bind the stone to your weapon. Within the jungles of the land of Kunark is the earthvine. Not only is this vine strong enough to hold the stone in place indefinitely, it also can channel the spiritual energy of the cudgel. It will take an expert hand to gather the earthvine, so take great care once you find it.'
You say, 'I will search out the earthvine. Farewell.'

Quest text:
- I have informed Rel'dekk of my victory.
- I must harvest a piece of earthvine.

The full name of the object you seek is "a stalk of earthvine". It looks just like other roots within the Kunzar jungle, except that it is periodically enveloped in a strange cloud of dust.

Like the Spiritwood required for "Dark Enlightenment", many have spent hours and days on end seeking the Earthvine, while others say they've been lucky enough to find it within 15 minutes. Let me repeat my advice: I spent some time increasing my crafting level to 44... so that I could use a Gnomish Divining Rod (5 charges), a device that enables you to track harvesting nodes.

So that you do not have to scour a long list of items in the tracking list, enter "earthvine" into the text line in the tracking window, and then that will be the only thing that shows up. Start riding the Sokokar throughout the length of Kunzar Jungle, and wait to see the uncommon spawn show up in your tacking window. As soon as it shows up in tracking, either note the general area to return to, or simply hop off the sokokar and land nearby... at level 80, you can take some falling damage! If you do not see it along the Sokokar routes, start running the remote areas on a mount with your tracking going.

As soon as you harvest the Earthvine, your quest completes!
