A Sleeping Stone: Great Beasts

This is part of the Mystic Epic Quest series.

This is the second of three quests that Takk awards you all at the same time, upon completion of "A Sleeping Stone: Dark Shadows"
The other two quests are "A Sleeping Stone: Dark Enlightenment" and "A Sleeping Stone: Restoring". These may be run at the same time and completed in any order. All must be completed before you return to Takk, however!

Takk says to you, "Although I cannot guide you to the Elder TrueSpirits myself, in my meditations I have heard the names of those you must seek... they have spoken to me, guiding me to in turn guide you."
You say to Takk, "Who is the final spirit I should find?"
Takk says to you, "Search out the Truespirit known as Grossh, who is the oldest of the three you must find. His knowledge is ancient indeed, and his understanding of the relationship between spiritual magic and the world of the living is unmatched in our world."
You say to Takk, "I will seek out the knowledge that Grossh has to offer."

This results in A Sleeping Stone: Great Beasts

Quest text:
I must locate the Elder truespirit named Grosh. I am to speak with him, and see if I can earn his knowledge.
- I must seek out Grossh.
- I am to seek out the elder TrueSpirit known as Grossh.

Travel to the Feerrott. You'll find the altar tucked in among the trees on the north side of the zone, just east of the Greenblood River and west of the Altar of Four Canons, in an area overrun by Thule Sattar. (-611, 0, 158)

Right click to pray at the altar, and you will zone into A Spiritual Pocket.

Grossh can be seen nearby, in the form of a ghostly Ogre. Speak with him.

Grossh says, 'Ah, you come to Grossh. Grossh wait for you, and you are here. Grossh is pleased.'
You say, 'I am glad to hear that, honored one. I have looked forward to meeting you as well.'
Grossh says, 'Good. Grossh was looking into your soul, and Grossh sees pureness. Grossh is pleased by that, too. Grossh has a task for you.'
You say, 'I am looking forward to performing your task, Grossh. What would you have me do?'
Grossh says, 'Grossh will help you make powerful weapon. You will need something to focus spiritual power, so that spiritual power will be in your living weapon. You must find claws. Claws to adorn your weapon with.'
You say, 'That's it? No major task? Just find claws to put on the cudgel?'
Grossh says, 'Not any claws. You must find mighty claws, from mighty creatures. Claws that have the power of spirit within them.'
You say, 'I see... where might I find claws like that?'
Grossh says, 'You must search Kunark for strong beasts with strong inner power. Sometimes this power is unbalanced, and the creatures suffer terrible pain. They are more big than others like them. Find these big creatures, and remove their claws.'
You say, 'How many of these claws will I need?'
Grossh says, 'Look for the claws of four great beasts. Look for strong creatures. Four strong creatures whose spiritual energy is so powerful that it seems their bodies cannot hold it all. Find them, and remove their claws.'
You say, 'I will search for them, then. Should I return them to you?'
Grossh says, 'Yes... show Grossh you have the strength of spirit and of heart to conquer the beasts, and Grossh will reward you. Go now.'
You say, 'I will return soon, Grossh.'

Right click on the altar to leave the Spiritual Pocket again.

Quest text:
- I should look for creatures known for their superior hunting prowess.
- I should look for creatures that are masters of the land that they hunt.
- I should look for creatures that can rend their foes, from the land or from the air.
- I should bear in mind that not all of the claws may be found on creatures in the wild.

You will be seeking Spiritwracked creatures in Kunark. All of them are 80^^^. I was able to defeat the first three with just myself and a level 80 Ranger. They are all out in the open and you can run them around a bit. The fourth one requires a group simply by virtue of being in Karnor's Castle.

The first claw:
The Spiritwracked Chokidai is found in the Kunzar Jungle, north of Abandoned village and southwest of Plunderers Camp. It would probably help to have a tracker along; mine was found at (-362, 138, -423).

The second claw:
This is found in Fens of Nathsar.... search out a Spiritwracked Sokokar in the southeast corner, south of the river. The Spiritwracked Sokokar spawns in the same general area as the named Treant, Stonebranch. (-2, 90, -62)

The third claw:
Travel to Skyfire Mountains in the south of Jarsath Wastes. Seek a Spiritwracked Drake. This appears to be a static spawn site, at (-2, 47, 185).

The fourth claw:
Drolvargs are not wild animals, but they certainly have claws. Big, stabby, slashy claws. Get a group together and head for Karnor's Castle. Lure them with the fact that your target, the Spiritwracked Drolvarg, is found on the northeast corner of the second floor, just outside of the Commander's Quarters. Get a group together with the lure of the Drolvarg Lore and Legend book inside the nearby quarters. If that fails, cajole, coerce and threaten everyone you know to accompany you. Your target will not be visible as you approach - it appears to spawn when you get within a certain range.

Your quest completes as soon as you have gathered all four claws.

You are left with no quests in your journal, but you might guess that you are to return to Takk in Graystone Yard once again... for your final quest, "A Sleeping Stone: The Cudgel of Obviation"!
