Open Beta hit the player cap!  So, now it's a lot hammering on the login servers trying to get in.

Still going strong here.  I saw it twice.  I think it's grossed over $1B so far worldwide.

Yeah, there is zero info out there right now about how group dynamics will play out either in space or on the ground.  I would LOVE to see some scaled up fleet-on-fleet battles!

I wasn't aiming that at you or anyone in particular.  Did it come off that way?  I was just saying it's one of my peeves.  I try to listen to learned debate and I actually enjoy it.

My favorite is people who say "This is my position/belief and there is NOTHING you can possibly say that will ever make me see any different!"  .... and then can't understand why I just turn around and walk away.

Yes, you start with a small cruiser and as you gain xp you gain access to more diverse/larger/capable ships.  So even though you are ostensibly a "captain", you are captain of a wee vessel.

We are eagerly awaiting news about any sort of player-crafting/shipbuilding/trading so we can start planning our efforts.

Plus as I stated earlier, how much fun will be doing a nebula survey be if I'm lucky enough to be in transporter room duty

All player characters will be "Captains".  All those other duty officers are your minions in your "deck of cards" that you can choose from for each encounter.

"The Path to 2409"

A year by year synopsis of events leading up to launch day.  Starting in 2390.

It is, however, NOT in the new "alternate" timeline (ie. the new movie).  It basically picks up after Nemisis.

Well, it looks like the ground game will be centered around the bridge "crew" you bring down to the surface with you.  You pick them from your available officers like you pick a hand of cards.  That is the hand you will have to use while you are on that particular Away Mission.  You can all your officers gain xp and skills along the way so you can really build a good "hand".  You can also reassign officers (ie trade them) to other Captians.

That's as much as I really know about it so far.   Could be interesting.  I like the merging sort of dynamic of space combat, single combat/adventure/mission, squad combat/mission/adventury sort of stuff.

Some of the old Core TCONers are have formed a guild already and we are in the planning stages for the upcoming Star Trek Online.  http://www.startrekonline.com/  If you guys want to come and get in early, we have a forum setup already and have our Vent server ready to go.

Beta application process has opened this week also, so go to http://www.startrekonline.com/ and register with Cryptic (unless you already have a Champions login) and click on the beta registration on the right.

It would be fun to have a lot of our old friends together at launch!  That's always a blast.

You should ping them Brasse, see if you can slip a guest comic in over there while they are all green and puking from H1N1.  Cheesy

OK, Delgo was not about humans per se.  But it was the mean militant occupiers vs. the beautific, peace-loving natives.

Try Battle for Terra then.  Same plot also.  But, this one with humans.

The comparison to Delgo is uncanny though, don't you think?  I wonder if Cameron lent his ideas to someone?
