1  Massively Multiplayer Games / EverQuest II / The end of EQ2 on: August 14, 2012, 01:31:49 AM
Well I have played many SOE games for long periods of time and at great expence (When added up over time). I started with SWG and The Consortium a month or 2 after launch. I have many good memories of the people and the game. When EQ2 arrived I played that too with Tcon (remeber Inn of the Sun & Inn of the Moon anyone?) My playtime with SWG dwindled and I finally gave up playing it after Wonderhome merged with another server, but I still played EQ2. My playtime dwindled as more of the guild left. Early last year I started to play it again up until the first announcement from SOE that they had made a deal with a german company that would take over European accounts. I smelt a rat and left. Glad I did!!

I will NEVER play another SOE game again. If you want to know why you can take a lo9ok at this thread on the EQ2 forums:-

Sad indeed - I believe she is the only person to have been in every single episode of every series + all the films. In 1 form or another.

I don't see a problem with this at all. Its all 'Fluff' stuff, nothing useful at all.

After being away from EQ2 for 2 years (My time flies), I left my lvl 70 Berserker with all legendary/Fabled armour etc and could join a raid with no problems. Now I find items can be made with better stats, my own stats are greatly reduced because I have very few 'Achievement' points to add some of the more powerful skills and can barely kill a heroic without getting killed. It would be nice to be able to buy a few plat in this situation just to get myself 'On Par' again but I have never done that before and I will grind away (Again) until I am able to partake some of the more interesting quests.

Wasn't blocked for me. Found it amusing. Some of the 'Gif' movies are hilarious too.

For those of you who don't know, I started playing with the Innmates at launch. Hard to believe that's 5 years ago now. I have been away for 2 years and while enough has changed (and been forgotten by me ) I must admit I am enjoying playing again Wink

Here is a list of my toons:-

Main - Kilum. Erudite Conjuror Lvl 56, Sage Lvl 55

Alts - Kilar, Human Berserker Lvl 70, Woodworker Lvl 70
       - Kurra, Dark Elf Warden Lvl 58, Provisioner Lvl 42

Some of you may have noticed Kilar 'Hanging' about the Stealth Guild hall (Isn't the Guildhall the best addition to EQ2?). Fanadore kindly invited 'Kilar' into the Guild when I saw him online my 1st day back. Now I need the rest invited - Pretty please  Cheesy

So any 'Old' friends out there who want to chat please feel free to send me a tell. New friends are welcome too and I look forward to meeting you all.

I don't know what you are using at the moment Kwee - but SL is designed to run on a huge variety of set ups. I heard of people who play it on Mobile Phones - Lol

As it is free to use and easy to download why not give it a try? It may not play well on some machines but It will play on most with varying degrees of success.

It would be good to see you there:)

Everything - and I mean everything in SL is created in world by the poeple in SL.  Landscaping, textures, avatars, clothing, scripting, animation - you can do the lot!

Sl does have some bad points though - it can be exteemly laggy at times (especially if you have a poor internet connection or low bandwidth)
You also need a good graphics card - I use an NVidia 7600 GS, which works well. ATI cards do not.

Sometimes - Rarely you can lose items from inventory. Finaly because SL Client is constantly being updated some parts of sl do not work all the time.

I have a house, a harbour and a park, Built on what was quite literally a flat open space. The trees shed leaves and cast shadows, I have a stream with running water that splashes if you go into it. You can fish in it (And catch fish) . There is a Dance floor where you can choose from several dozen dances. I have a working motor boat in the harbour and a jet ski. I have a hammock you can lay in which swings + a load of other stuff including a horse that I ride.

I have working Weapons for RP too including a Sword, Knives, a Bow (Which I love) and a set of revolvers.

Leon - if you decide to take a look - once you are in world click on the 'Search' button at the bottom of the screen. then click on the 'People' tab at the top of the box. Type in 'Edwin Martinsyde' and click search. My profile should come up. You should then be able to IM me and I will add you to my friends list.

I am currently helping to launch a 6 sim rp area called Gianfar - this is based on the 'Dragons of Pern' books by Anne McCaffrey so I am having a lot of fun here atm Smiley Launch is set for the 6th Sept so if you can get in befor that and come to the opening you will have a lot of fun I can promise you Smiley

If anyone else who knows me wishes to explore SL for a while please feel free to contact me once you have set up your account and logged in.

I have an AV in Secondlife. Name - Edwin Martinsyde

If anyone would like to visit and say hello and would like to be shown around a little I would be more than pleased to see you there.

It is a Huge, quirky place but is fun to explore.

A basic account can be set up for free and although it does have a retail economy of its own there is more than enough free stuff here to do away with the need for money - everything you might ever need can be found free some where. If you don't want to spend any money you don't have too. I would be more than willing to show anyone around.

I like SL it has everything you can think of and more from recreations of Starwars and Startrek etc to Virtual Universities. Anything you can concieve of is here - somewhere and there is even more here that you could not concieve Wink
