the problem is, people replied to the survey with their 'least favorite' types of music or instruments, whether they'd heard them played right or used well.
For example, here's a band that I really like (own all their albums). Flogging Molly. with a banjo, violin and an accordion.

as for the bagpipes, Albannach is an excellent band (own all their albums too) that's just drums and a piper. (this vid doesn't do them justice, they're phenomenal live, but the vid has like no bass, and since most of the drums are bass drums yo just don't get the same raw primal power watching a vid as you do from their live performances) Seeing this band live will totally blow you away. In actuality when you hear them live the bagpipe is in perfect balance with the drums.
