New to EQ2

Yeah so after discovering your site shortly after LOTRO went live, I have been a faithful reader almost every day...
Thing is, I grew kinda tired of LOTRO, just i dunno bored of the incompleteness of certain aspects of the game... I went back to SWG, to mess around with the new Beast Master things... Eh that got old fairly quick, but my wife who was with me in LOTRO joined me for the first time in SWG...
THEN we are sitting there one night and she lets me know how much she misses EQ, or at least that world and what we used to do in it...
SOooooOOoooo
We still had 2 30 day trials from coke rewards for EQ2....
Loaded it up, and ran the patcher...
Next day when it was done, boom... 1 hour in, we were hooked
Yeah we joined Crushbone server... Since I saw it mentioned on here once or twice *lol*
So yeah...
Now I only spend... looks like 120 or so on online games a month *lol*
/shakes head in sadness
But on the bright side, EQ2 is pretty damned fun so far...
How 'grindy' does it get in the later levels, compared to EQ?

Welcome/welcome back!
I'm currently in the 70's and I don't feel like it's 'grindy' at all, for me. There are lots of quests and exploring to do at the higher levels. I personally dislike grinding for levels but I suppose if getting the level was your goal you
could
do it that way. I prefer a slower, more social pace, and it's taken me a while to get to the 70's, but it's definitely do-able.
What are your character names? The chars I play most often are Carynne and Castalia, but I have lower-level chars that I'd be glad to switch to if you need help with anything. Give me a holler.

Hey there guys and welcome to EQ2
I am Rolick from Stealth also a officer like Brasse. I have a Level 80 Warden and 49 Guardian I dual box atm. I would'nt think of EQ2 as a grinding game because well there is just so much to do. I personally enjoy doing quests and " /hangs head " I have started to enjoy Tradeskilling. LOL its funny I never liked doing tradeskills till EQ2. Anyways its a great game to just play and hang out with friends and socialize. Send me a /tell in game and I would be glad to chat with you or help in any questions of the game.......... but I wont be back till 05/15/08 due to motherboard being stupid!
Talk to you soon ....... Rolick

Wow :> thanks for the responses...
I'm Charfahl, Wife is Aaremin and we are like 12 now, but that is only a couple of hours of playing, still learning the little intricate details of the game :>
We mostly duo in the games we play, as its kind of our way of spending time together (Non TV Watching Time that is :>)
but so far, we're hooked

Howdy,
Compared to EQ 1 grinding is almost non existent in EQ 2. There are so many quests offered that leveling is easy compared to EQ 1. Just pick up a bunch of quests from your current level zone and run with it. Often as not there are multiple quests that call for the same types of creatures and such to be killed. So you could be working on two or three quests at once just by killing one mob. The city zone they put you in when you choose to move on after the starting zone should have plenty of NPCs offereing lots of different quests. Sometimes the sheer number of quests you get at once is kinda hard to keep up with, but the handy quest journal (default j key) helps to keep you on track. Good luck in EQ 2 and hope to see you around.

Adventuring together is so much fun... my husband and I
used
to do that before he got burned out on MMO's - again
(he'll be back though! He goes in cycles). He's the one that got me started in this stuff (and now he's run off to MetaPlace to make his own game, which is cool but I can't go there. But I am not bitter. Much.)
But luckily I have a great adventuring buddy in Alajia, and great guild people, so I am not lonely.
So what classes did you two pick?

Hi there everyone, I'm the Aaremin half of the equation
(which reminds me to get my Char to make me a fancy avatar, but I digress). I also started reading the Brasse when Lotro came out, and in fact, it was the EQ2 comics that got me wanting to get back into Norrath
The one thing I remembered from the EQ2 launch was the ability to be any race and any class. So when we decided to use the free trials, I poked around a few boards, and absolutely loved the polar aspects of being a Dark Elf Druid. Good/Evil all rolled up into one blue package
So, hence Aaremin, a Dark Elf Fury was born. I'll let Char describe his choice for his character. Right now we're almost 15 and have discovered Tradeskills!!
(I've also poked around the Stealth boards, and I think once we get a few more layers on us, you'll see us applying!)

*lol* Yeah, I kinda liked the idea of a Dark Elf Monk :>
So ATM Dark Elf Bruiser (Since I am still fuzzy on the whole class progression thing)
Charfahl on EQ1 was a Woodelf Ranger... Which I loved rangers, but will never play one on here, since they they still get no loves *lol* As is apparent by todays comic ;> But my Ranger was completely accepted by the dark elves in EQ1 :> took ALOT of work but I could wander around neriak pretty much at will... An occasional guard would attack me, but I never did have that faction figured...
I used to love hanging out at the bank to watch peoples reactions :>
But I digress... Yeah This seems like it will hold my interest for quite a while :>

Heya, Aaremin.... Stealth doesn't have a minimum level, ye know, hehe. However, if ye like ta play in peace an' quiet, that's anodder matter. =)
Char, Rangers received attention in Game Update 45. Early on, in their "glory days", they were simply broken. The class was never meant to outdamage everyone, just like real Texas Rangers are not Chuck Norris clones, hehe. They are good, solid damage dealers and a lot of fun to play if you like an active play style; for instance, casters just stand back and shoot. Melee classes get right up close. A Ranger may switch back and forth several times in a long fight.
Glad you both seem to be enjoying the game!

well yeah....
Charfahl (Eq, Ranger)
Charfahl (COH Blaster)
Charfahl (SWG Jedi, Now Medic)
Charfahl (LOTRO Captain, in beta it WAS a hunter)
Charfahl (EQ2, Dark Elf Bruiser)
And now I have Gnamish (The Mystic)
And now an aggrivated returning case of Carpal Tunnel... So I will be offline for a couple of days... Might end up buying a 60 buck mouse...
Which I was just told to order :>
