I don't understand the groupings for the fansite poll. Given that you can vote for one site in each section, wouldn't you group them together by type?  Instead, I see as an example a very small blog posted against massive corporate sites, and I don't get it.

If you plan to pick the favorites based on total votes, these apparently arbitrary groupings will favor some and work against others.

I agree.  Some of the groupings made sense, but others didn't.  I guess the intent of the poll is to increase traffic, not to make sense.

The way the sites were put together was completely random.  I had hoped to be able to put them all together so that you would be voting for one site only.  But do to a limit of the voting system (no more than 20) I had to break it up to the 5 sections.

Brasse – I really like the idea of putting the sites together by type.  Thank you for the thought.  Now the fun of creating the categories.
