I don't have the highest powered system, but it's decent.  I never expect that I'll be able to play at maximum video settings, and I'm willing to reduce graphic details.  However, when my framerate goes below a certain level, even with medium-low graphic settings, it doesn't matter how pretty the screens are.  I'd much rather play a responsive smooth game than endure the jerkiness of low fps.  Generally, even out here in the middle of the Pacific I get decent connection speeds, so lag isn't usually a problem, but fps... argh.  That's one reason that I've pretty much stopped playing AoC.  I'd love to try Warhammer, but being a bleeding edge game probably means that my fps will be intolerably low.

Actually from the system specs I have seen about warhammer if your system can play wow it can probably handle war. War is a bit more intensive than wow but they were recommending something like a 2.5 ghz processor and a gig of ram or 2gig if you have vista which is not any kind of super high end rig.

Warhammer unlike conan was aiming more for somewhere between wow and eq2 for graphics power.

Not sure about champions because thats still a long way off but COH played very well on pretty low end systems so I have more hopes for champions than things going for uber realism like AOC did.
