Insane lag spikes on Crushbone

Hey all,
has anyone else experienced ridiculous lag for the past few days?
it's not constant nor does it happen at any specific hour so I don't think it's server population related really but I'm getting huge lag spikes or sometimes it takes me forever to zone (not talking about the guild hall because that should be provided with a coffee maker when you join so you can make coffee while waiting) or sometimes you buy something on broker or drop something off and it takes a while to update (had that last night in Kitiarah's room as well as on the broker in guild hall).
who else is experiencing that?
and has anyone heard anything from the devs (points to Brasse
)

Contrary to popular belief, I do
not
have a direct line to God nor to Devs, hehe.
I haven't had a chance to log into EQII since I got home, but I checked the main places I follow up for on technical issues:
EQII Official Forums > Announcements (no mention made of known lag issues that are being looked into)
EQII Official Forums > Tech Support (no threads by Crushbone players complaining about lag issues over the past few days)
EQII Official Forums > Crushbone Server Forum (no threads complaining about lag over the past few days)
This merely means that others are not having problems, or not finding them bothersome enough to report, and that the devs have not noticed any issues on their end.
Anyone else here who plays on CB having problems?
If not, I'd consider the possibility that a router or two between your location and the Crushbone server may be having some issues.

*gasp* your direct line to God and to the Devs got disconnected at the same time? bugger and here I was looking for a miracle solution from the almighty Brasse whom we miss in Stealth (just btw
).
Well I'm sure it isn't only me as I've heard other people asking the same kinda question in guild and on the general channel as well, so, was just wondering who all was having the issue and if anyone had heard anything, I'm in France so if anything I would have assumed it was my connection, however considering my better half is in the States and having very similar problems I can safely rule out router problem on my side

Arhen, I have been having such lag spikes intermittently since the release of TSO. Lately, it has calmed down some, but I still sometimes find that there are long delays between button-presses and the effects appearing on-screen, even when my ping is low. I believe that's server-side lag. Probably 4-5 times a day, I get a huge spike in my ping which sometimes results in a log-out.
Anyway, it's been happening to several of us, but I think we've gotten tired of talking about it, so no one mentions it.

See now... if you are having issues, take the 3 minutes needed to post about it to the EQII Techie forums. Even better, get all your friends who have the same issue to post in response to your thread.
That way, someone gets the heads-up at SOE. Techs themselves do browse the forums, and SOE has little live hamsters that collect currently relevant data to pass on to the right parties as well.
It really DOES help. Can't fix what you don't know is broken!
Whether or not you get an immediate or even eventual response will vary.

Ok, so here is some info from Greg (Rothgar) Spence, a brilliant guy on the EQII team.
He is a techie's tech, along with his partner in crime, Josh "Autenil" Krieghauser.
In
Greg's blog
, which is unofficial and not linked from the EQII forums, he does discuss the following, which seems to pertain to your issue:
Quote
(Feb 6/09)"Lately the team has really been focusing on performance optimizations to try to combat lag and improve overall performance both on the client and server. Josh (Autenil) has been making some great improvements to the server which should hopefully go out in the next week or so. Ryan Favale, our graphics guru, has been working on some really amazing things for the client but unfortunately I can't talk specifics. I was given the task to try to improve how our servers provision hardware for zones. Without going into too much detail, our zones are dynamically created when a player needs them and our server software determines which piece of hardware is best suited for the zone based on memory usage and CPU activity. This is working as it should, but I was able to make some optimizations that should improve this process a bit. Hopefully these changes will go out today or Tuesday and if all goes well we will see some improvement to the lag spikes."

cool, thank you Brasse
yeah I spoke to both Autenil and Rothgar while I played on Test (as Kahz), Autenil is one of the main Devs that worked on voice chat in game, we did some testing with him when it was first released and thereafter when there were problems, he sorted everything out very quickly and efficiently and Rothgar fixed the pet following issue where it would just stop following you if you got too far because of mount speed, Kahz actually ran some tests fro him with a couple other people after he'd done some tweaks, they both are really nice guys and so with them on the case I'm sure a solution will be found rather quickly
thank you again Brasse for that bit of information, nothing worse than being in the dark like a mushroom

I just got DSL cause my cable kept getting bad packet loss and modem kept resetting. Aside from that, when I am sure stuff on my end was working, I only noticed 4-5 second lag when the zone had more then 30 people. I know when a zone gets around 70 people its almost guaranteed its gonna be a 4 second lag.
