a LICENSED CERTIFIED TEACHER in the state of California! As of 11:00 AM I took the oath, said the creed, and accepted the mantle. Now all I need is a job. LOL Thanks all for lots of support through a really rough semester these past 4 months or so. If you DO live in CA and you know that your school district needs teachers (multiple subject or ELA Academic Block, k-8) and it is within, say, 50 miles of Clovis, send me a PM, hehehe

Anyhow, ta da! I did it!

No clue where Clovis is, and I'm too lazy to look it up, but my 4th grade son tells me his teacher (she teaches a 4th/5th grade combo class) is taking a year off for the 09-10 school year. Benicia, CA, at Joe Henderson Elementary. If this is a possibility, let me know and I'll see if they have an opening.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations, I know the hard work that has gone into your Portfolios's, assuming its a similar process in training for 2 years as here in the Uk that is. Well done and I hope you have a long and profitable (ie personally not necessarily just Cash wise) time ahead. Smiley

I'd like to take this opprtunity to vent some spleen. My mum was a teach for many years but then stopped when she had her second child, my sister. We have since moved from England to Scotland. As soon as my little brother starts school, She's going to start teaching primary schoolers. And yet, despite the many years she spent teaching children of that age range, she will have to do a minimum of YEARS of probation teaching. If she had trained in Scotland, it would only have been 10 days. Aaaaandd that works HOW exactly?

That certainly does not seem fair at all. I am assuming its a similar if not same curicullum in each country, as they are still part of the British Isles?. I would have thought references would suffice to level that particular playing field, with some adjustment for the length of time of her break from teaching. Crazy.

The system would work better if they put corporal punishment back in.

Atherin; LOL!! SP cracks me up XD
Quinatan; I can take a beating as much as the next guy, but whacking a kid with a stick for forgetting their homework is just plain wrong. And yes, I KNOW he was joking around, but still, it had to be said.

I thought capital punishment was when you killed people.  Beating a kid with a stick is just called the good old days.

Yah, capital punishment is when you barbarically murder people, thus lowering yourself to their level. I said CORPORAL punishment, which is not by any stretch of the imagination GOOD
