Are you in California? Are you? If you ARE, then, on October 3rd or 4th, you should come up to the Northern California Renaissance Faire (http://www.norcalrenfaire.org/), spend the day, see some awesome jousting, meet me and Rabine, AND THEN . . .stay after the fair and see THESE GUYS:

It would be a BLAST! Whaddya say?

They sell LOTS of beer there. Lots. And wine. And Ale. And mead. Turkey legs. Mini-Shepherd's Pies (the pies are mini, not the Shepherds), lots of other good chow.

As it's two hours from my house, I support Bhinder attending this festival (with ME!), and staying at my house while she attends it. Tongue

happy day,

p.

ps---good luck with that, Sak!

As the Faire is set in a fictional English towne at the time of Queen Elizabeth (she makes appearances around the faire through the day), we go dressed as French Musketeers and wives slumming across the channel in the land of L'Anglais, lol. We get into fun confrontations with the English police in the towne hehehe. The fair is right next door to the town of Gilroy, where there are cheap (but clean) motels and plenty of chain restaurants (so you are assured of missing the food poisoning from local joints). The fair is also at this tourist joint called Casa de Fruta (LONG history there, check their website http://www.casadefruta.com/) which has a whole bunch of local produce and such from the San Joaquin Valley without having to actually enter that place of horrible temperatures (I know, I live there). But it is a really fun thing to do for a day or two. Hope to see you there! If you do go either of those two days in October, look for us! I will post our pics below. You can also be pretty assured that if you see people wearing musketeer tabards, it's us.

Holy Carp!  They let you go armed there?  They banned swords at our RenFest here in Maryland years ago.  Although, to their credit, our RenFest is in Prince George's county...  liars and miscreants and thugs, oh my!

I used to go to the RenFest up there in Maryland every year when I lived in VA.  I've been to the one here in PA a couple times and hit the one in King George, VA until it went bankrupt.  But neither of those compared to the one up there in MD.  When did they ban weapons?  And how does that affect the guys that sell swords there?  Do you have to immediately take them to your car?  Or do they make you pick them up on your way out?

For our ren-fest, all weapons must be secured with a heavy plastic tie so you can't unsheath them.  If you have that, you can bring them in!

No open blades. All weapons sheathed in covered sheathes or scabbards. All weapons peace bound. A friend tried to come in with a war hammer, but they couldn't successfully tie it down so back in the car it went. It really is a nice fair. Lots of good feeling. NEVER seen a fight there (aside from staged ones naturally) in the 5 years I have been going. And we usually go three or four weekends a year (this year is tough with work and school, so only one). It's just too much fun.

Yeah, they tried peace binding for about one season.  Too many breakers-of-the-peace it seems.

Miscreants!  Foul Pigs!

(yes, you have to take it to your car or pick it up at the end of the day.  They do have some AWESOME weapons though)
