SOE FanFaire - Advance Planning
Brasse -- 2008-02-03 22:16:40
- I just finished an article on making costume armor for EQuinox magazine, and that really got me to thinking about what I should make for this year,
- SOE has a poll up for the location of the 2008 FanFaire. Note: this is the NEW poll; if you previously voted, vote AGAIN. Thanks to the heads-up from Nindaene about the poll being reset!!
I don't care if they hold it in Zimbabwe, I am going.
In the poll, I voted for Vegas. Sure, I live in Orlando, but I'll still have to get a room and stay on-site for the duration because I am NOT driving through traffic for 45 minutes in full costume like I did the last time it was held here. Nuh-uh.
Besides, it is hot, humid and sticky here, and as much as I love it in winter, I hate Orlando in summer.
And yes, June is summer here.
ANYWAY.... my point is that it is never too early to start planning for FanFaire, and it is never too early for me to start planning my new armor, because the Gods know that I'll still be working on it at 5am on the opening day of FanFaire. Count on it.
Go vote, preferably for Vegas.
I'll see you all there!

ps. a note regarding the FanFaire link above is that it is updated rarely, and usually at the last minute. In fact, I will race the FanFaire site this year and bet I get my armor done before they get the relevant info posted. My one and only beef about this fantastic event is that you can't get any timely info from the site until after the advance registration closes, and 90% of the events are labelled "TBA" forever. Drives me nuts, it does.
