It Ain't Art II - A New Job
Brasse -- 2008-06-26 13:04:10
I have a new job, and it does indeed feel like walking through a Picasso painting. I am excited, nervous, full of anticipation and a sense of being in a very foreign land.
I have been offered a position as Senior Staff Writer/Community Relations for a new startup, a gaming magazine called Massive Gamer. I'd link the site, but we don't have one yet... yeah, it's THAT new!
It is a print magazine, to be published monthly, initially at least. For those who say print is dead, I say UP YERS! Err, I mean, look, we skim online content... we keep magazines and read them more than once (even if it is only in the bathroom). I am really happy to be involved in this one, and hope to give you all reason to keep a stack of these issues around.
The purpose of my trip to St. Louis is to sign an employment contract and to spend the next five days getting to know the other staff. Right, we will also work crazy hours to put together our inaugural issue. It is going to be insane and interesting.
Although there is a clause barring me from working for competitive interests, my employer is generously allowing me to continue my beloved, comfy little site here, so you are stuck with me for some time yet. Poor bastards.
Right, time to roll up the lappy and get on the giant tin can. Us Dwarves really do not fly well.
I am so going to have a beer tonight.
Here's to old friends, new ventures and the ability to afford ale once more!

(The image is Picasso's famous work, Guernica; I feel a little sacreligious in adapting a work of such monumental fame and meaning to a simple comic, but Picasso can look me up if he wants to complain about it. Yes, I know he's dead. I bet his estate's lawyers aren't, heheh.)
