If I Hear WoW vs WAR One More Time...
Brasse -- 2008-09-27 21:09:53
Still, I feel obliged to post a comment to prove that I am still semi-coherent after three glasses of wine. Here goes.
I like World Of Warcraft. Some of my best friends are WoW players. Ahem. But if I hear one more time that Warhammer Online stole WoW's art style, I'ma kill somethin'... or at least punt it into next week.
There are resemblances, yes, because WARHAMMER characters and icons, in place for 25 years, actually look like that. WoW, live now for 4 years or so, emulated the style created by Games Workshop for the epic tabletop fantasy game... NOT the other way around.
So shaddap. Don't make me come kick your butts, you weenies.
Will Warhammer Online stand the test of time? No way to tell. It is not a perfect game (surprise!!!), but it is a lot of fun so far.
Will it be the "WoW killer"? I doubt it. WoW is a one-off social phenomenon, partially because it WILL run on your Grandma's iMac... and it is a good game, although I find it very repetitive. Warhammer can carve its own niche.
But enough of the WAR stealing WoW's style bleating. Give credit where credit is due. Games Workshop created an incredible, humorous and deep world long before any of us could afford home computers... and Warhammer Online is its latest iteration.
The end.
Now, where did I put that wine bottle?
