LotRO's Secret to Success
Brasse -- 2008-11-25 14:14:47
The choices were: WoW Wrath of the Lich King, EQII The Shadow Odyssey, and LotRO Mines of Moria.
Lord of the Rings Online won. Now, I don't have to tell you that such contests are all about mobilizing the community, and I watched from the sidelines as a masterful job was done by LotRO's Community Manager, Meghan "Patience" Rodberg, moved heaven and Middle-earth to get Dwarves, Elves, Hobbits and Humans voting.
Man, did they vote.
Like they were terrified of the alternative... like the IRS was going to audit them if they didn't... like the in-laws were going to move into the front room for a year if they didn't. It was scary to behold!
Good job, Patience... now give the Balrog back his whip.
Look, he's crying. Hand it over.

ps. LotRO winning this contest also allowed me to design a cover with a proper DWARF at long last! Now, if only I can find an appropriate Interstellar Dwarf for the cover of the January issue, in which we feature space games...
