The comic must go on!

Wren -- 2008-12-16 13:41:57

Sometimes, when Brasse wants you to do something for her, she'll take a sideways approach, like so:

Brasse: Tell yer wut, a glass o' ale wud sure hit da spot 'bout now...

Wren: Yeah, I bet it would.

Brasse: (switches to Elfink-speech mode, as that is more likely to produce results) Man, I am so tired. I don't think I could move a muscle, despite being in near dire need of a malt-oriented adult beverage, preferably one surrounded by glass.

Wren: I hear you. I am beat myself. Good thing this is sooo comfy! *slides the blanket further up to help with her iceberg-nose issue*

Brasse:
I should make you get me a beer, hehe.

Wren:
Hahaha, did you see the look on Joy's face? OMG, wait, let me rewind!!

Brasse: *sighs* Say, will you go and get me a beer? Um, please?

Wren:
Oh, sheesh? You need a beer? Why didn't you just say so?? I'll be right back with it!

Usually this method works for Brasse. Eventually. She'd have more spare time (and fewer injuries from poking herself from the ensuing frustration) if she would just ask directly. Still, her slow and steady approach gives me a chance to feign ignorance over whatever it is that she wants me to do, particularly if I don't want to do it! Those of you who might try to point out that I probably am not feigning any sort of cluelessness, that it is coming perfectly naturally, should just hush.

Anyway, so, Brasse is being flying across the country through the courtesy of THREE tin cans. This leaves little time for comic doing, so she did her sideways approach, and before I knew it, I was writing down pixel widths and such.

It should be clear that I am not one with photo editing software. I can do some basic things, sure. But just getting the text on the pics, where I wanted it, and the size I wanted it (can you believe the font size of that text is over 900?!!?) was a lesson in frustration.

I wanted to add some text balloons for the kids, but it took so long to stop making the heart-shaped balloon come up that I gave up trying to make the inside of the 'text' balloon be fuschia.

And yeah, I have no skills with the resizing, thus everything looks squashed. But hey--it FITS, and it's up there, and I am pretty sure things are spelled correctly, so it works for me, and I bet it works for Brasse too. At least it will if she wants that beer she was asking about!

Oops, almost forgot--Warren and Trevor had been wanting their hair dyed for a few weeks now. I made them wait until Brasse came to visit, for a) she had the good kits and b) she is the family's personal hair colorist. So, through a long group (Brasse, me, Vince--Mr. Elfink) effort of cleaning hair, bleaching hair, rinsing hair (which is not good for the back, when you're leaning over your tub for an age), putting on the color and a lot more rinsing and waiting, they are now technicolor elfinks, and are so proud of it. Thanks for doing that, Brasse. :)

happy day,

Wren
