Yay! Bonus Comic! Yay! Today at work all I could think about was how much I wanted to hit one of my fellow employees and then go home and write up my stuff and play Free Realms. Its stealing my soul!

Looks like I am going to be haunting server 2 and 3 then. It would be nice for them to add a way of switching servers while in game rather than logging all the way out, but then that would fix the other problems of not doing cross server invites or teleporting.
and to those people who have mastered everything....my questions is...DO YOU WORK? I have been focused on Archer and I am still not maxed in it, have hardly touched the other jobs. Geeez....also happy belated sink full-O-mayo

Occasionally I remember to glance at the chat window in Free Realms. I haven't tried to move it, but, by default, it's the mostly ignore part of my screen, the place I will see icons (EQ2's various temp bars and the hotbars) but not text unless I intentionally look over and down and give up on doing whatever else it was I was doing.
Oh.. and yeah.. been playing it way more than I should. My boyfriend, too. IT is the thing interfering with us getting completely unpacked from the move any quicker.
We both love that we can be happily working on solo quest lines all over and then, when we need a hand in a combat place, just click on the entrance and both accept from where-ever and instantly teleport. When done, the exit generally takes us back to exactly where we were. For example, I can be in Briarwood working on finding stupid butterflies and, way off in Chugawuga-something (gads I am horrible with names), he can click on the entrance to the sarsaparilla rescue. I'll get the request to join him even though I am half a world away and, when I say yes, I will join him directly from there :) All done with the bashing and stuff, when I leave, I'll be back in the Briarwood hunting butterflies again.
I LOVE it!
Oh... and mining is my obsession. I'm not as keen on smelting (but I love the kinda like the real steps crafting mini-games) 'cause the bellows just do not like me.

The offspring spent most of the weekend playing FR and, on her own, free account, she's a level 11 pet trainer (without actually owning a pet. I gotta give SOE some real money *sigh*) and L10 chef. Also, she got bored playing with cute animals and went to beat up Robgoblins for 6 levels. That's my girl :D
Me, I want to do that archery thing (no surprise there). Server 3, is it?

LOGIN Planning, Free Realms on the Brain

I bet that paragraph alone will net us a whole bunch more of those "Lose Weight with no effort if you pay us tons of cash" adverts... here's a hint. Save your money for cool stuff in Free Realms instead and just stay away from the fridge. And Orkfest.
*ahem*
So... LOGIN. There are a great many speakers scheduled, and in these still rough times, I do worry that the hardworking organizers may not break even. There is this whole "economy" thing going around, and it has put a damper on a lot of events over the past year. I look forward to covering all there is to hear next week, and I suspect that, as usual, my head will asplode with information overload.
In the meantime, I admit that I am in the throes of Free Realms addiction, even though I've been mucking about in Beta since early February. You'd think I'd be burnt out or otherwise done by now, but no. As the ultimate jaded gamer, I can say that this is a great game.
Many seem to agree. One friend, after listing the many things that he felt that Free Realms absolutely, positively MUST FIX, ended with, "and I signed up for a Membership. It's easily worth that $5 a month, I'm having a blast!"
Another says, "This is wonderfully addictive. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun. I am not even embarrassed to tell people I'm playing a kid's MMO."
I am ever so very curious if SOE is tracking the ages of the players currently immersed in the game. How many are over 21?
We already see some of the usual litany on the Official Forums, where a few players have already gained level 20 in all the Jobs and they are BORED. Wow. I have just reached 20 in Mining. I've barely touched combat since Beta, and have messed around with my favorite Minigames some (Tower Defense FTW!). I know how much time I have spent in the game...
My answer to those folks who have "mastered" everything already is... you really, seriously need a life. Step outside into the fresh air. Go on, you can do it.
I have always felt that Free Realms would have a tough go of it to stay ahead of the "uber" curve with content, and I would love to know how many people are working on the Live team, as well as some of the cool things that are planned. We've all heard or read about new races under consideration (Dwarves and Elves, for starters!), new areas that are already tantalizingly marked on the Atlas, and talk of cool hybrid classes that open up after level 20 - I am still hot for the possibility of a Ninja-Chef combo!
Brash's Good vs Evil in Free Realms - Friends
Free Realms is a casual MMOG, with a demonstrated appeal that spans an enormous age range.
Friends are clearly important to Free Realms, as the Friends list is always on your screen, and Friends occupy a prominent position on the Profile Page. You can teleport to Friends in game, which saves a lot of time when getting groups together.
I like getting little news feeds about how Elquinjena completed a quest line, or when Nick Winterlight reached a new level. That is really neat.
But the friend concept is still beset by evils. Evils, I say!
- You cannot add friends unless they are on the same server. Doh!
- You cannot teleport to friends if they are on a different server. Meh!
- Often a friend can be online, yet show as offline (especially if they are on a different server). Bah!
- Early on, people could invite you to their friends list and even if you explicitly DECLINED, they'd be added. Worse yet, you cannot REMOVE these barnacles. Brakk and I still have several of these unwanted interlopers on our Friends lists, and they are not budging. Boo!
To overcome most of the Friends bugaboos, we are playing steadily on Server 3. A word of warning: unless I know you, I do not accept random Friend requests - try adding a whisper introducing yourself first!
If I seem to be ignoring you, it is either because:
a) I am in a Minigame and trying really, really hard to beat some score or goal, or
b) I am afk and have no afk flag to put up, or
c) I might actually be ignoring you. ON PURPOSE! Hah.
I'll leave you all to guess which.
