Heading to LOGIN: Travel Essentials

Brasse -- 2009-05-11 19:23:00

I only HOPE that is me, sound asleep on the plane tomorrow morning. Given the sudden changes United Airlines pulled on my itinerary and the 45 minutes on hold trying to fix it so I actually arrived at LOGIN tomorrow... I'll be lucky to make it.

Us Dwarves get very nervous when we have an itinerary number, Airline ticket number and confirmation numbers, and yet cannot check in online because the airline does not have an electronic ticket on file.

Uh huh. I will be one extra scruffy, uber-grumpy Dwarf at the airport tomorrow morning, ready to take on United Airlines and everyone else who tries to stand in the way of my trip to LOGIN!

Due to the itinerary changes, I arrive a lot later than planned, but should be able to take in at least a few opening day sessions and uh.... happy hour!

On Wednesday and Thursday, I look forward to bringing you all a summary of the lectures, round-tables and panels I sit in on.

One session of particular interest to me is Fansites in the Age of Centralization. A roundtable moderated by Meghan Rodberg, Senior Community Manager for Turbine, the discussion will revolve around fansites, game companies and the growing trend toward "official" spoiler info and player resources. I am not entirely sure that many fansite reps can afford to travel to LOGIN, but I look forward to hearing from those who appear, and from game companies who sit in. It is an odd topic, one that people tend to approach very gingerly, if at all.

*rubs hands together*
I can hardly wait.

Sounds cool. Good luck! Is there a site for LOGIN? Then we can check what our favourite Dorf has done! Go tell those Elfink community managers what's what!

Ereb, we've had a small LOGIN ad on the upper right of our site for MONTHS now, hehe. Just click on it to read all about LOGIN. I'll be writing about it some more while there, of course.
I do not know if they plan to post current events while the show is on.
I did get on my flight, and am about to board my connection to Seattle.
Whups, time to load up!
Bye for now!

Good luck. Did you know that most air plane pilots get paid minimum wage? This is the man in whose hands you put your life, and he's getting paid the same (or less) as that spotty kid in Burger King. I'm sure you'll be fine though >;)

Can't you get Swift Travel from some stablemaster?

Erebethor I'd like to know where you get your info. All the airline pilots I've known over the years get payed very well. You may be thinking of a bus driver, but Pilots are payed very well, and they aren't bus drivers by any means.

*seconds Scorchedsabre's remark*

Airline pilots are paid super well.

Now if only the security folks at the airport were paid as well, maybe folks would not lose IDs ... *sigh*. My recent travel woes are the fault of my own carelessness, but it will still be fun trying to get on a plane back to ATL without any form of picture ID. Woot.

Yo, you're probs right Scorched. Just rumours and goss and somethng I vaguely remember from a book with probably out of date figures. But just to be sure, how do YOU know they get paid "super well"?

I strongly dislike the security measures they've put in place. Mostly because everything I've read and seen have shown that the security in airports is so awful that it has a snowball's chance in hell to actually catch competent terrorists. Fortunately as we all know what truly stop terrorists from terrorizing; drunk Dwarves and their axes.

EDIT: I stand corrected, and what a tragedy:
