Furthermore, the players are now empowered to do something about it. OWAH, you say?
GMs have been flagging credit spammers with a PvP flag. What a most satisfying target that must be. I soooooo want that in EQII and LOTRO. Please, please please with a frag on top?
SoE has also instituted a new Warden Program in Star Wars Galaxies to expand the ability of players to enforce the anti-credit-spammer policy.
"With the use of a simple command, a player in the program can target a spammer offering credits or power leveling services and squelch their ability to speak through all chat channels, spatial emotes, spatial chat bubbles and in-game mail for a period of 6 hours. Meanwhile, an automatic email will be sent to our Customer Support Team, who will follow up on each incident and take further action against the account of the spammer."
Wow. Of course there is some potential for abuse, but actions are extremely trackable in SoE games, so I don't think that will happen much. For one thing, your own account is at stake if you start squelching your friends and enemies.
SWG is aiming for 20 Wardens per server to start.

Kudos to SoE and the SWG team!
