Harvesting is one of many Minigames you can play Free Realms. It is closely tied to the Chef Job, and offers a lot of cooking ingredients for your efforts.
Even if you don't cook, you can collect vegetables and fruit for other players, perhaps trading them for finished product or other items. You can also sell harvested items for 6 coins each to vendors.
Here is a list of all the different food items that you can harvest in Free Realms:

The Harvesting game is played similarly to the Mining game, and the basic strategies outlined by Heilig in his Mining Guide are very helpful here.
The main difference is that we don't use dynamite in Harvesting, although it does sound like fun. Instead, harvesting brings in the "Destruct" tile, which must be some kind of powerful weed-killer. It randomly destroys some of the tiles on the board and can be useful for getting new links going. The other power-up and hazard tiles are the same as for Mining.
Where Do I Go To Harvest in Free Realms?
There are six farms in Free Realms, all very easy to get to. They are marked on your Atlas (M on the keyboard) if you have Minigames enabled.
Each farm has two common and two uncommon ingredients that you can harvest, shown in the chart below:

Ok, Got My Hoe and Spade, Now What?
Start the Harvesting game by clicking on a pile of straw with farming tools around it. I know it's called "hay" in game, but hay is green; straw is yellow. As a former farmer, I am always annoyed by this. =)
There are several of these on every farm, and lots of players can use them at once.
When you start the Harvesting Minigame, you will disappear from Free Realms. Friends can still teleport to you, but they'll arrive beside the game.
Each farming area offers different Goals to challenge you, which pop up when you click on the farming tools:

Although all Harvesting games are currently rated as "medium" difficulty (two yellow dots), many people find the farms in Wugachug and Briarwood to be harder than the others.
Again, follow the general advice for these "Match-3" style Minigames in Heilig's Free Realms Mining Guide and you'll do just fine. As you practice, you'll start to see the patterns better.
You will score points for each chain of three or more tiles that you create. The longer the chain, the more points you score, and the faster your bushels will fill up. Chains also boost your timer on the left.
The good thing is even if you lose the game or do not meet all the challenges, you get to keep ALL the produce that you collected. At the bottom of the game screen are four bushels, each with a progress bar. Every time you fill a bushel, you get one of that item in your inventory.
To check how many harvested items you have, go to My Stuff ("I" on your keyboard), then to Crafts, then to the subcategory Supplies.
If you do meet the bonus Goals, you'll often get Vault Vouchers, which you can save up and trade for random items in the Vault game!
Harvesting is a fun and relaxing game. If you have any extra harvesting tips or tricks you'd like to share, please send me a PM on our forums!
