Gods & Heroes - Gone Daddy, Gone.

Here are the words of CEO Chris McCubbin on the now defunct Gods and Heroes site.
I first saw the news on Escapist Magazine:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/77756-Breaking-Perpetual-Entertainment-To-Dissolve
and then at WarCry:
http://www.warcry.com/articles/view/breakingnews/2324-Breaking-News-Perpetual-Acquired-Gods-and-Heroes-Likely-Canceled
Of course, both of those journalistic sites are more likely to dig up what is really happening within the company than official press releases will allow. We'll see what happens.
I can only imagine how disheartening and frustrating it must be to have spent so long working on a title, only to have to dissolve around you.
It's too bad, really. I really enjoyed the minions and the concept of the game.
Star Trek Online is still firmly on track (or so it is said), but they are still very early in production on that title, and who knows what will happen over the next few years. I have to say that with the rug being pulled out of G&H, I begin to question the future of STO, as much as I want to believe.
It brings to mind, yet again, the pathetically stupid "awards" that many sites award to unreleased games. BEST OF SHOWNAMEHERE, my fuzzy Dwarven arse. "Most anticipated" maybe, but how people can even pretend to rate and grant awards to games that are nowhere near done is beyond me.
I am feeling a little downhearted... fortunately, I am at SoE's San Diego offices all day tomorrow, and there, at least, I can immerse myself in a positive environment to wash away the blues. Mmmmmm, a delicious look at the Kunark expansion....
And if that doesn't work, I'll find a bottle of wine somewhere on my way back to the hotel.
