Cabal Weapons and Combat
by Leon
'CABAL' has proven to be a rather addictive throwback of a game for me this past week. I have levelled my Force Archer to Level 39 in that time by doing around 160+ Missions/Quests. I will write further on the leveling and skilling up later, but for now I will touch on the weapons in-game.
The Warrior Uses 'Great Swords and 'Daikatanas whilst also having access to 'The Force' (as do all classes) which is the magic in-game. They can also summon Astral weapons if trained in those skills.
Further Information on the Warrior and other classes can be found Here.
The Blader uses Katanas and regular Blades.
The Wizard uses 'Orbs' that are strapped to each of his/her his wrists to project the Force into effective Blasts of Elemental Energy.
The Force Archer, which is the Class I have played so far, uses Crystals that effectively mirror the Wizard's Orbs, in that they are attached one to each wrist. However, in the case of the Archer, one Crystal can summon an Astral Bow, whilst the other projects, with the help of the bow, Elemental Astral Arrows to attack his/her enemies at range.
The Force Shielder uses a combination of Blade and Crystal. The Blade is his melee weapon whilst his Crystal can manifest an Astral Shield that can also project Elemental Astral Force.
And finally the Force Blader uses a combination of Katanas and Orb, to perform a role similar to the Shielder, but more offensive than defensive.
The six characters can thus be seperated into:
Two Melee heavy classes.
Two Magic Heavy classes, and
Two Hybrid classes.
Each have their own weapons, armors and fighting styles.
There are Three Armor types suited to each of the three separate Class types. These being 'Martial, Battle and Armored' which equate to Light, Medium and Heavy armors.
This is the Battlesuit Set that my character has access to at this time. He is currently on his 4th non-novice set. (Every class gains a training set of armor and weapons at creation)
-----------------
To attack a mob, one uses tiles on the bottom options bar as in most other games, and the skills these represent need to be purchased from a Trainer. Each skill has a requirement in terms of level as in most other games.
Combat is not difficult; in fact, it's as easy as pressing keys 1, 2, 3, etc., in order to use the skill/attack that is bound to that key.
Each skill, whether sword or magical is one of four elemental energies. i.e., they range through Earth, Air, Fire and Water blasts, channeled either through the weapon used or via projection through Crystals or Orbs.
Other skills can be gained at certain levels which are "specials". These specials are Auras and special shots.
Auras give a buff. An example of a special for the Force Archer would be a multi shot, which hits two targets.
Every so many levels, one can gain a skill level-up, with which one upgrades an existing skill by a small amount. After a while, one also gains access to a higher Rank of skills and can untrain one of the old skills and replace it. You can do this at any time so long as you are able to access a better skill via the Trainer.
Similar to weapons and armor, these can be upgraded to another Rank when certain criteria are met.
I will go into this further in my next post.
Thankee,
