Calming the Wake

General Quest

Grimbriar has heard tales of black riders that leave behind undead. He has also heard rumors of wights living in the mounds in the Barrow-downs, and he wants you to see if it is true and kill any that you find.

NOTE: I recommend that you work on the Foray into the Barrow Downs quest at the same time as you work on this one, as you will easily encounter 12 wights while collecting your stones.

STEPS:

1) Defeat 12 wights in the Barrow-downs. Grimbriar says:

"The north entrance to the Barrow-downs is west of Bree, south of the Great East Road. I'm afraid what might happen if those old wights get out of the Downs!"

Take the West Gate out of Bree, heading west. Between that gate and the Southern Bree-fields, just past some ruins, you'll see a road heading south (29.4s, 54.9w). Follow the path and you will enter the Northern Barrows Pass. There are numerous wights in this area, though I would suggest you go to The Dead Spires, nearly straight to the south, and kill them there while you work on another quest, as per my note (32.1s, 55.1w). 2) Talk to Chief Watcher Grimbriar.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, Grimbriar's Bracelet, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Purging the Dead.
