General QuestLost Shade tells you how he broke a promise long ago to defend Arthedain, and as a result, upon his death became a ghost that must serve evil wights. The ring you found for Lost Shade has helped him to become free of the wight's power, but he would like to help his shield-brother become free as well.
STEPS:
1) Search for the shade's shield-brother.
"Please, take this ring and search the mounds in the north of the Barrow-downs. I believe I can use the ring to guide thee."
First, you'll need to get to the Northern Barrow-downs. There are multiple ways to get there, but I am going to tell you a fairly quick way from Bree. Take the West Gate out of Bree, heading west. Between that gate and the Southern Bree-fields, just past some ruins, you'll see a road heading south (29.4s, 54.9w). Follow the path and you will enter the Northern Barrows Pass. Head a lot south and a little west (the location is east of The Dead Spire landmark--you may even be able to see it) until you get a message stating "This is the place but my shield-brother is not here" (32s, 55.7w). Your quest will automatically update.
2) Search the barrow and defeat any foes who confront you. The Barrow Door will glow; double-click it when you are ready to fight (32.1s, 55.7w). You get a message telling you the door refuses to move, and then a level 15 Signature Barrow-wight Slave (706 morale) will attack you. When he is dead, you get another message saying: "collected the shield-brother's ring," and your quest updates.
3) Return the ring to the shade in Bree.
4) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Bone Man.
