Return to the Barrow-Downs

General Quest

Newbold wants to learn more, and he feels it could help aid Bree. You get to bring him some lore, which you'll find by digging with a blunt axe at the entrances to some specific barrows.

NOTE: Again, while this is not a fellowship quest, your life will be easier if you bring a friend along to help you with the fast wight respawn you are sure to encounter on this journey.

STEPS:

1) Collect 3 lore fragments. Newbold says:

"Try digging at the entrances to the barrows of Taradan, Orron and Ringdor. I believe those barrows lie in the north of the Barrow-downs."

Now it's time to go back to the Northern Barrow-downs via the Northern Barrows Pass again. From the end of the path you can see Taradan's barrow, a short run southeast of where you stand (30.9s, 55w). Get close to the door and then use (I double-clicked it) the blunted pick-axe to dig in the dirt and collect the lore fragments. The next closest one is Ringdor's Barrows, south and a bit east from Taradan's barrow (31.2s, 54.7w). Finally, stay close to the rock wall on your left and keep heading mostly south. Orron's Barrows is one of many in a small group of barrows, with lots of wight-action going on. Be careful! Once you've uncovered the lore fragments from each of these named barrows, your quest will update.

2) Bring the lore fragments to Newbold Leafcutter.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Ruins of Cardolan.
