Find Malin

General Quest

Addie is distraught over Amlach's death, but now she has doubled her desire to have Malin back. She wants you to find him.

NOTE: I saw a level 25 Guardian solo this quest, though it was a close, tough fight for him. If you are closer to the recommended level for this quest, be sure to bring along several friends.

Here was our group makeup: Level 24 Minstrel, level 21 and 24 Champions, level 19 Hunter and a level 20 Guardian. This group decimated that poor Malin before I could get the wight-dust out of my eyes. Thank you, Wilma and Cashel!

STEPS:

1) Search for Malin. Addie says:

"Please Wren gather companions and search out the barrow over the mire where Amlach heard his brother, bring my son back safe to me."

To get to the Southern Barrow-downs from Bree, take the Greenway (the long north-south running road in Bree-land) to the Andrath zone, and head off the road toward the mountain. You will see a barrow-looking thing, which is where you zone in to the Southern Barrow-downs (34.9s, 53w). You will usually have to fight a wight before zoning, and then some more once you enter. After zoning in, head mostly west and a bit south. You will soon spy some large stone columns in the area where Malin is (Malin is noted on the map at (35.3s, 55.5w)). There are a number of level 16-18 wights that block your way. If someone is fighting Malin, or is speaking with him, his respawn is long enough for the wights to respawn, so keep your bio-breaks here short. Talk to Malin. The poor guy is clearly off his rocker, and attacks you!

2) Defeat Malin. Malin is a level 18 Elite mob with 2,029 morale and 293 power.

3) Talk to Addie Wheatley.

4) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and either Wheatley's Sword, Wheatley's Shoulder Pads, or Terthail.
