Longbeard Loyalty

Epic - Prologue Dwarven Quest

Dwalin is found on the great throne in Thorin's Hall.

After reading the notes kept by Nos Grimsong, Dwalin is even more concerned about Dourhand activities.

"A Longbeard by the name of Rothgar is at Noglond, the way-station to the south. He is very loyal to Dain and has kept an eye on doings within the Vale of Thrain. Follow the road south to Noglond and ask him about the old Dourhand city in the mountains that edge the Vale. Once you have learned what Rothgar knows about the place, make your way inside and retrieve the stolen Longbeard gold!"

"You can trust Rothgar to return the gold to me once you have recovered it. he is a Longbeard I would trust with my life... and my wealth!"

1. Talk to Rothgar

It is easy enough to find Rothgar. As Dwalin said, head south out of Thorin's Hall and Thorin's Gate. Stick to the main road until you see a small outpost off to the left (east). There is an intersection at the road with a signpost also pointing to Noglond.

Rothgar is there, at 19.3s, 100.5w.

He greets you warmly:

"Welcome to Noglond, friend Guardian! you might not know it, but this way-station has a storied history nearly as rich as Thorin's Hall itself! I would be honoured to tell you of..."

(of course you must interrupt in order to convey the urgency of your mission)

"Oh, I see. You are here on business from Dwalin? You will never find a truer Longbeard than our Steward, and Thorin's Halls are maintained with the dignity that befits our glorious..."

(he does go on, doesn't he?)

"Ah yes, your pardon. What was it you were wanting, friend?"

At last you have his attention. The bit of coin falls naturally into your pocket, and you are ready to ask him about the "Old Dourhand City" as instructed by Dwalin... the next step in the series.
