General Quest

Hunulf is concerned over the Vile-fang and Shadow-weaver spiders that have taken residence beneath Minas Eriol. He wants you to take their eyes, which removes their power.

NOTE: You may consider binding your milestone (if it is not already) to the front to The Forsaken Inn. This way, when you are done gathering all of your spider eyes, you can simply map out as opposed to difficult and less-than-profitable Elite spider hunting. Plus, if you drop down at the suggested place to start your hunting, you will not be able to climb back up at that route.

I did this with a 22 Hunter, 21 Guardian, and 21 Champion. We died once, and came close another time or two, but I think we could have (maybe) gotten through the entire spider chasm. The 'pragmatic, reasonable' dorf insisted I tell our kind readership to MAP OUT when you're done. It is indeed a tough area; a healer will certainly increase your chances of success.

STEPS:

1) Collect 6 Crimson Moon-web Eyes. Collect 6 Inky Moon-web Eyes. Hunulf alerts you:

"Spiders…make their home in the valley beneath the ruins of Minas Eriol, southeast of The Forsaken Inn."

To get to the ruins, head southeast from The Forsaken Inn; you will soon find a path to follow. The path curves gently around a mountain, and when you have a choice of going north or east up a hill, head east up the hill. Continue into the ruins, and just after entering, go to the left. You'll be standing at the edge of a chasm filled with spiders. There is a way into this without having to jump/slide down, but it is at the opposite end of the valley, and filled with spiders that you do not need. So, bite the bullet and slide down as gently as possible so that you minimize your falling damage and do not aggro the beasts down there. The spiders range from level 21-22 Elite (2,494-2,693 morale). You will get the Crimson Moor-web Eyes from the Vile Moor-web spiders, and the Inky Moor-web Eyes from the Moor-web Weavers.

2) Bring spider-eyes to Hunulf Munce.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and either Shadow-Weaver Eye Cutter, Hunulf's Dagger, Munce's Padded Boots, Munce's Shoulder Pads, or Munce's Shoulder Guards.
