Will of the Iron Part II

Crafting: Metalsmith Quest

This quest starts from any metalsmith trainer once you reach the skill cap of Proficient Journeyman Metalsmith.

Visit Glasi Ironhand

The first step is simply to head to Glasi Ironhand. Unlike Will of the Iron Part I, he is not satisfied with your simple attendance. Nope, this time Glasi is going to make you work for your supper.

Create a Featherlight Shield

Glasi gives you instructions on how to make this both as a right clickable recipe item, and a right clickable ingredient list that you can refer back to if you don't know where to get some of the items.

The ingredient list is as follows:
Iron Chains (2)
Steel Bracers (2)
Iron Band (2)
Ancient Emblem

The first three are just simple components that you can make at your crafting level of Proficient Journeyman Metalsmith.

Ancient Emblem

The Ancient Emblem must be found in the North Downs. The Fields of Fornost to be specific. Heading north from Trestlebridge and sticking with the north bound roads will take you to a desolate expanse with withered trees, foggy effects, and mood music. This is the Fields of Fornost.

To both sides of the road there are burial mounds and ghostly apparitions. All my hunting for this quest was on the western side, so I do not know if the emblem can be found to the east.

The emblem can be found on any of the Villainous Oath-Breaker ghosts (including the marksmen), and possibly on he Oath-Breaker cowards as well. These ghosts are hard to fight by themselves. They are often found in large groups and the region is filled with wandering Barghasts as well. So bring a friend if you are in your low to mid 20's.

The emblem drops like a quest drop, being somewhat uncommon, but not terribly rare if you have the quest requirement of having 0/1 Ancient Emblems. I state this because of the following warning:

The Ancient Emblem CAN BE SOLD. Do not make this mistake. I stupidly sold it after an hour or so hunting it down.

The next day I realized my mistake and we spent about 6 hours trying to get another. I was thinking I was cursed with horrible luck until Brasse suggested it might work like a quest drop and ONLY drop when you have the quest need for it. I had discounted this because it was sale-able and thought it was like normal loot. It is not.

If you sell it or otherwise lose it, DELETE THE QUEST. There will be a 15 minute timer before you can retake it at your nearest metalsmith and then you will have to journey to Thorin's Hall again, but upon receipt of the quest they will check your inventory and give you credit for any of the ingredients you already made. But you need that quest step of 'Find the Ancient Emblem' in order for it to drop.

The third day hunting ghosts had one drop on the first kill I think. Verified drops were off:
Villainous Oath-Breaker
Oath-Breaker Marksman

After this you simply craft the shield, and return to Glasi for the ability to progress further in your metalsmithing.
