Purging the Dead

General Quest

Grimbriar is now more concerned than ever over the threat of wights, and wants you to travel to The Great Barrows and prevent them from coming out.

NOTE: Many, many of the critters in here are Elite (level 18-23 in the 'early' areas), so don't think about coming here without a strong fellowship! Special thanks to Durlo, Tachyon and Kwee, who assisted The Brasse staff with this quest! With them, our group was (for comparison purposes): Two Hunters, one level 24 and the other level 26, Guardian level 23, Champion level 22, Minstrel level 22, and Minstrel level 27.

STEPS:

1) Defeat 25 wights in the Great Barrows. Grimbriar says:

"The Great Barrows is towards the southern end of the Downs."

Step one is to get to the Greater Barrows, and you'll be doing that via the Southern Barrow-downs (note the zone-in to the Great Barrows is on the northwest side of the map). Once inside, you'll encounter a maze of passages. I sure could not find my way around here, so I brought along my dorf, whose map should aid you immeasureably (large version is HERE).



You will only initially encounter spiders and crawly-type things, but before long, you'll run into wights. LOTS of wights. Plenty enough for you to kill 25 of them.

2) Talk to Chief Watcher Grimbriar.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and either Grimbriar's Knife, Yellowtusk Spear, or Chief Watcher's Bow.
