Heading West

General Quest

You'll find Aradia standing by a campfire with two of her peers and some horses nearby. She is just a hair east of Adso's Camp, on the south side of the Great East Road.

Aradia expresses deep concern over the evil spirits roaming again in the Barrow-downs. She suspects they have come to "increase their master's horde in Bree-land." She wants you to send them back to their master.

For your comparison purposes, here was my group makeup: 28 Hunter, 28 Guardian, 25 Minstrel, 25 Lore-Master and 20 Hunter. We did well, overall, and we not only completed this quest, we finished the dungeon and slaughtered the Nemesis mob! Special thanks to Maligant, Risi, and Dragonlordx for helping Brasse and I with this quest and dungeon.

NOTE: You will need to have someone in your party that has completed the quest An Ancient Story of Evil and has the Skull Key to open the skull doors.

STEPS:

1) Defeat 15 Accursed Fell-spirits. Aradia says:

"The spirits will likely be found behind a door displaying a skull. You will find a southward pass leading into the Barrow-downs east from here. Othrongroth, the Great Barrow, is in the southern end of that dread place. You should not enter Othrongroth alone, for it is a dark and dangerous place. Take those you can trust."

Step one is to get to the Greater Barrows, and you'll be doing that via the Southern Barrow-downs (note the zone-in to the Great Barrows is on the northwest side of the map). Once inside, you'll encounter a maze of passages. I sure could not find my way around here, so I brought along my dorf, and here is her map.

On the map you will find the locations of the skull doors. I did not have trouble finding enough Accursed Fell-spirits (level 25 Signature mob, 1,431 morale and 295 power) to kill. In one of the rooms with six spirits, after you kill them all (3 on each side of the room), a number of level 24 Consuming Barrow-Crawlers will spawn.

2) Talk to Aradia.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and either Tirithol or Brecthann.
