Oathbreakers, The
General QuestMincham tells you the tale of a group of men that declined to help their king in his time of need a thousand years ago, and were summarily cursed by King Arvedui. "To this day, they have walked the Fields of Fornost, tormented by their failings." Mincham says that it is time to release these spirits.
My group was very overpowered for this fight; it was over almost as soon as it began! It included: Hunter (28), Guardian (28), Captain (26), Burglar (28), Minstrel (26), and a Champion (26). Many thanks to Risi, Aerlyn and Grimsly for assisting The Brasse staff with this quest!
STEPS:
1) Talk to the shade of the Oathbreaker-captain. Mincham says to you:
"Assemble your allies and seek out the Oathbreaker-captain. He can be found beneath the very walls of Fornost, northeast of here by some old, broken ruins of Arthedain. Beware, though; his was a fell fate, and he may not be friendly to those who remind him of his foresworn oaths."
From Mincham, the shade is indeed northeast, quite a bit to the northeast. On your in-game map, the area you want will be just above the "S" in "Fornost" (for Fields of Fornost). Hey, odd way to give directions, but it works for me! You'll know you are close when you see some ruins ahead, and you have entered Ost Nuaran.
The Oathbreaker-Captain is standing in the middle of some dark ruins, waiting for you to speak with him. He is a level 25 Elite, with 3,187 morale and 393 power. After you talk to him, four more normal shades (Oath-Breaker Cowards, level 24-25) spawn to help the Captain deal with you.
2) Defeat the Oathbreaker-Captain. These shades have the frustrating ability to disappear for a short while, becoming ineligible targets.
3) Talk to Mincham.
4) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Dire News.
