General QuestCaptain Trotter suspects a 'defiler' Orc may be behind these latest problems. He explains:
"Oh, it's a breed of Orc that some stories are told about. Supposedly they are masters of vile poisons and diseases, defiling all that they touch."
He wants you to find and kill the defiler.
My group was fairly overpowered for this fight; it was over very quickly after it started. It included: Hunter (29), Guardian (28), Captain (27), Burglar (28), Minstrel (26), and a Champion (26). Many thanks to Risi, Aerlyn and Grimsly for assisting The Brasse staff with this quest!
STEPS:
1) Defeat the Tarkrip Defiler. The Captain tells you:
"If the defiler is anywhere, it'll be somewhere in the Nan Wathren, which lies east of town. Look for foul patches of water there, that will probably be a sign of his presence."
To get to the Nan Wathren area from Trestlebridge where the Defiler stands near some stagnant water, immediately after crossing the trestlebridge, take the right fork heading east and a bit north up the hill. Just before the fort, you will see another fork in the path. Again you will take this right and follow it to the east.
Cross bridges as you come to them, and continue moving ahead in the valley area; there is really only one 'path' to take. Careful, there are many mobs (level 23-25), and a number of them wander about. You will come to a point where you stop heading southeast and turn north, down a hill, towards the nasty water (16.2s, 48.1w).
Down there you will find the Tarkrip Defiler, a level 25 Elite caster mob with 3,155 morale and 885 power (15.9s, 48w). Note that there are several regular mobs nearby, along with another Elite, a Tarkrip Fight-Master, level 25, with 3,252 morale and 737 power. The Defiler is a caster, and you *may* be able to pull some of the ADDs before the big fight, but it will be tricky. If your group is strong enough, just rush in and show them who's boss!
2) Talk to Captain Trotter.
3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, either Trotter's Leggings, Defiler's Doom, Poison Hunter or Defiler's Conqueror.
