New Trouble in the Old Forest

General Quest

Toly Brockhorn is ever more concerned with the goings in in the Old Forest. He sends you to find Gillemin Brandybuck. Although this is not listed as a fellowship quest, I recommend that you never travel the old Forest alone, unless you are of sufficient level to grey out the mobs (30+).

Gillemin has a little camp on the banks of the Withywindle River, deep in the Old Forest, at 33.8s, 59.3w. Luckily, we have a map of Old Forest for you, to make things easier.

It seems that while he was out exploring, he ran into a number of enormous spiders, which chased him almost all the way back to his old camp. In his panic, he dropped his pack at the camp and skedaddled back.

Obviously, he is not keen on going back himself, and is quite happy to pay you to go after the pack for him. He notes that the pack is near the Willow Glade to the southeast.

1. Collect the Forester's Pack

Use the map linked above and cross your fingers. Cross the river and then westwards a bit before turning south toward the Willow Glade. You can see where Gillemin's ruined camp is... I suggest that you kill all of the spiders that you come across, because it can be difficult to outrun them. One spider is no big deal, but get half a dozen on you and one lands a sticky web... it will be lights out!

The pack will disappear when it is collected, but will respawn quickly, in case you have several in your fellowship that are on this quest.

Return to Gillemin as quickly as you can. He expresses his concern that somewhere, deep in the spider's expanding lair, lies the source of the troubles in the wood. Oh yes, you bet he'll tell you more!
