Food and Shelter
General QuestMallennor has been charged with determining how much of their food stores remain, as well as which tents need repairing. Both areas need help, but the town cannot spare more workers, for then they leave themselves open to an Orc attack. You can be the hero, and help replenish some of their provisions.
NOTE: For questal efficiency, work on the quests Meat for the Hungry and Aurochs Mantles concurrently with this one.
NOTE: Most varieties of the aurochs are not aggressive, though they are still a tough mob. They are Elite, and are in the low 30s. I saw a Wandering Hoar-Mantle with 4,987 morale and 785 power. You'll need a group to kill them, though; depending on your level this could be as small as a duo. My group blew through them quickly and easily: Myself, a 33 Hunter; Brasse, a 32 Guardian, and Amaranth, a 35 Burglar.
STEPS:
1) Collect 6 thick aurochs hides. Collect 6 aurochs meat. Mallennor tells you:
"My request is simple: gather your allies and head into Rhunenlad and Nan Amulg, east of Esteldin, where the Aurochs are more plentiful. From the bulls collect hides…they can be used as shelter. The yearlings and cows will provide the best meat."
The quickest way to Rhunenlad from town is to take the dirt path from the back of town; it leads you straight into Rhunenlad (path starts here, facing southeast: 9.8s, 40.8w). The aurochs are spread throughout Rhunenlad and Nan Amlug East; you will have no trouble finding some big cows to hunt.
2) Speak with Mallennor.
3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and Mallennor's Bow.
