Scouting the Ram Duath

General Quest

The people of Esteldin have been so focused on dealing with the Orcs that they "did not notice the Hillmen who came after." Dagoras wants you to help determine how much of a threat the Himmen are.

STEPS:

1) Scout the Hillman camp at the Eastern Ram Duath. Scout the pass through the Western Ram Duath. Dagoras explains to you:

"We need you to scout the Hillman-encampment to the northeast for us. From that camp, head west until you find an outcropping of strange spiny rocks. The pass continues to the northwest of these rocks. We need to know what you find at both places."

The quickest way to Rhunenlad from town is to take the dirt path from the back of town; it leads you straight into Rhunenlad (path starts here, facing southeast: 9.8s, 40.8w). After you're in the forest, travel northeast. You're heading for the eastern section of Nan Amlug West, where on your map there will be two paths separated by mountains that lead "to Angmar". Travel a short way up the left (eastern) path, and you will get a message telling you that "the Ram Duath is home to worms" and something that er, I did not catch (5.6s, 40.8w). You will need to head a short ways up the western path for that part of your quest to update as well. Here is where the eastern path is:

2) Talk to Dagoras. He is glad to know the Angmarim forces are "not as great as I had feared," but surprised to learn that the Ram Duath has both worms and drakes.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward and XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Valley of the Worms (although from a different NPC).
