Black Tide of Angmar, the

General Quest

Before you fully engage an enemy, it is best to find out exactly what you are dealing with. To this end, Daervunn wants you to determine if the Orcs that recently went through the North Downs are only one tribe, or if they are many.

STEPS:

1) Collect an Orc-banner from Dol Dinen. Collect an Orc-banner from the Norbury Gate. Collect an Orc-banner from Nan Wathren. Daervunn gives you some more information:

"I believe there are three tribes: One in the northwest near Fornost, one in the southwest near Trestlebridge, and the last in Dol Dinen, southeast of Esteldin. Bring me the banners that fly at the outskirts of these camps."

The Norbury Gate banner is just outside a camp at the top of the Fields of Fornost, just to the east of where the Norbury Gate POI is on your North Downs map. It is called the Blogmal Banner (8.7s, 54.7w).

The Dol Dinen banner is in Rhunenlad; the best way to get to it (unless you happen to be hunting in the area anyway) is to take the back-path out of Esteldin (this starts at 9.8s, 40.8w), and then carefully work your way down the mountains (taking any road/path you see helps with this) to the southeast. This banner, the Ongburz Banner, is actually on the north-south road that leads into Dol Dinen at the south end, and Angmar at the north (12.7s, 37.2w).

NOTE: If you happen to be standing next to a banner that you have not collected, and are otherwise engaged for a moment (like, say, by taking down quest notes), be aware that the respawn is a few minutes.

As for the banner in Nan Wathren, it is not too far in, and is called the Tarkrip Banner (15s, 50.1w).

2) Return the Orc-banners to Daervunn. He displays the banners, and wonders who is leading such varied groups.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Orders from the Front. You will also be able to take a quest from a different NPC, called Forced into Service.
