Chapter 06: The Defence of Trestlebridge

Epic - Book III: Council of the North

NOTE: You must have completed the quest A Call to Men before you can accept this quest.

Halbarad explains to you that the Orcs that are moving towards Trestlebridge are of the Ongburz variety, which are "stronger and more skilled." Halbarad cannot spare any other men, but says he will go with you and whatever allies you can gather.

FELLOW: Myself, a 34 Hunter; Risi, 32 Minstrel; Brasse, 33 Guardian; Grif, 30 Captain; and Ridlin, 32 Champion. We had more fire-power than we needed, but that is better than the alternative, heh. Your mileage, of course, may vary. Thank you all for helping me with this quest!

STEPS:

1) Talk to Halbarad. When you have your fellow together and are ready to begin your adventure, select "Travel Now." You will travel to an instance, The Defence of Trestlebridge.

2) Talk to Halbarad. When you are ready to start protecting Halbarad and fighting alongside him, select "Continue Quest."

3) Aid Halbarad in the defence of Trestlebridge. Here you get to be privy to Halbarad's conversation with Nellie.

Halbarad says: "Mayor Boskins!"
Halbarad says: "Nellie Boskins!"
Nellie Boskins says: "Who's there? What is going on?"
Halbarad says: "Miss Boskins, I am Halbarad of Esteldin. I come with a dire warning."
Halbarad says: "Orcs of a kind unknown to you are about to attack your town!"
Halbarad says: "We have come to lend you what aid we can in the battle ahead."
Nellie Boskins says: "Ah, I see. So I refuse your call to council, and now this new orc threat appears?"
Nellie Boskins says: "I think we know how to deal with orcs, without your help."
Nellie Boskins says: "Why don't you return to your home. We will deal with this orc threat."
Halbarad says: "But Miss Boskins..."
Guardsman says: "Mayor Boskins, look! One of the guard approaches!"
Nellie Boskins says: "Come! Perhaps it is another attack."
Halbarad says: "Come, we must follow, the battle is upon us!"
Guardsman says: "Mayor Boskins, orcs of a kind I've never seen before approach!"
Nellie Boskins says: "Perhaps your words were true, Halbarad. Come now, to the bridge!"
Halbarad says: "To the bridge!"
Nellie Boskins says: "These orcs…they are unlike any I've fought before!"
Halbarad says: "They are of the Ongburz tribe…and more will be upon us soon!"

There are only a few waves to this battle, each with a mixture of Elites (Onburz Blade-Master) and regular (Fierce and Killer Ongburz). Finish all the mobs in one wave and the next come shortly thereafter, rinse, lather, repeat. Nellie has trouble with this concept, though, for she says: "Are their numbers without limit?" Halbarad is quick to reassure her by saying: "I think the end is in sight, Miss Boskins!" The Killer Ongburz are ranged mobs. The Ongburz Battle-lord is a level 29 Elite. He has something to say: "Smash 'em! Kill 'em! Destroy these maggots!" Halbarad warns you: "It is the warchief! Our enemy is upon us!" After he is dead, there is much rejoicing.

Nellie Boskins says: "Huzzah! Trestlebridge is saved!"
Nellie Boskins says: "Halbarad, all of Trestlebridge is indebted to you and your companions."
Nellie Boskins says: "I only hope you can forgive my behavior toward you!"
Halbarad says: "Think nothing of it. It was my honour to aid you in this fight."
Halbarad says: "I must leave you now though and return to Esteldin."
Halbarad says: "My companions though shall remain behind, in case more trouble arises."
Halbarad says: "I must have one final word with them, then leave!"

4) Speak to Halbarad. He is pleased with your help, but he wants you to stay behind. Select "Finish Now" to advance the quest, and then talk to him again and select "Travel Now" when you are ready to go back to Nellie's place.

5) Talk to Nellie Boskins.

6) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, either Cerygaim or Defender of Trestlebridge, and you will now be able to take another quest, The Free Peoples of Trestlebridge.
