Which Laid First?
General QuestSandson's farm is northwest of Waymeet and northeast of Michel Delving in the Shire. Wald is going to be in trouble unless you help--he has taken a basket of eggs and later discovered that they contained chicks from his dad's prized hens. You will be putting the eggs back, in the right order!
STEPS:
1) Place the first egg in the proper nest. Wald tells you:
"I got so flustered trying to get away with the eggs that I forgot which hen I took them from. I put the eggs in the basket in the order I took them, so all you need to do is figure out what order the hens lay them in."
He continues:
"I was able to sneak out a page from my dad's journal--he can write, you know, taught me all my letters--though I can't make out up from down with his notes. Maybe you will have more luck?"
Finally, Wald warns you:
"Be careful placing the eggs back in the nests…those hens know what eggs are their own and and will roll out any that aren't theirs, then you'll have to start over."
Farmer Sandson's Notes say:
"MY PRIZED HENS:
Pimpinella lays eggs before Cineraria.
Moonlight lays eggs last.
Cineraria lays eggs after Bellflower and Pimpinella.
Bellflower lays eggs after Pimpinella.
Telltime lays eggs after Cineraria."
This is a logic puzzle, likely similar to one you have seen elsewhere. Happily, Brasse figured this out for me while I wrote the quest up! The first nest is Pimpinella--just double-click to place the egg (32.1s, 74.5w). If you happen to fail, the hen will "roll the egg out of the nest", and you'll need to take the quest again.
2) Place the second egg in the proper nest. This one is Bellflower (32.1s, 74.6w).
3) Place the third egg in the proper nest. It is Cineraria's turn (32s, 74.6w).
4) Place the fourth egg in the proper nest. This one is for Telltime (32.2s, 74.6w).
5) Place the fifth egg in the proper nest. Finally, Moonlight needs her lost egg (32s, 74.4w).
6) Talk to Wald Sandson.
7) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, Prized Pie, and you will now be able to take the next quest, The Early Bird.
