Crafting: Cook Quest

NOTE: This quest is a sub-quest of The Short Order Cook. You may only take it if you are in the midst of that quest.

Esmerelda wants your help in making some bagged lunches. If you do this, she'll "be sure to put in a good word for you with Rollo." You can find her inside the Bird and Baby Inn in Michel Delving.

STEPS:

1) Collect 2 Salted Beef Delights. Collect 2 Shire Rations.

SHOPPING LIST:

2 Cuts of Beef (Novice Cook)
6 Bags of Salt (Novice Cook)
4 Fine Seasonings (Expert Cook)
2 Sharp Cheese (Expert Cook)
2 Uncooked Chickens (Expert Cook)
2 Coarse Flour (Novice Cook)
2 Chicken Eggs (Novice Cook)
2 Lard (Novice Cook)
2 Water (Novice Cook)
4 Shire Apples (Expert Cook)
2 Cinnamon (Expert Cook)
2 Honey (Find or Novice Cook)

Both of these are Artisan recipes. The Salted Beef Delights calls for (per Delight) 1 Cut of Beef, 2 Bags of Salt, and 1 Fine Seasoning, along with a campfire to cook all of it. You can purchase all three of these ingredients from either a Novice or an Expert Cook, both in town in The Delving Fields (34.6s, 75.6w).

The Shire Rations will require a bit more effort on your part. That recipe needs 1 Roasted Chicken, 1 Sharp Cheese, and 1 Spiced Apple Pie. The Sharp Cheese can be purchased from the Expert Cook Jewel Underhill (34.6s, 75.5w in Michel Delving), but the other two you'll need to make. Roasted Chicken is an Artisan recipe, calling for 1 Uncooked Chicken, 1 Fine Seasoning, and 1 Bag of Salt. Remember you're making 2 of these, so double up!

Same with the Spiced Apple Pie, also an Artisan level recipe. That one will need 1 Pie Crust and 1 Apple Pie Filling (well, you know, two of each). Guess where you'll be getting the Apple Pie Filling? Oh yah, you will be making it! And the Pie Crust too! I started to think I'd need to draft a flow chart to achieve my goal. Pie Crusts use Flour, Egg, Lard and Water. Make two, and you can purchase all of these ingredients!

Finally, make some Apple Pie Filling, for which you will be mixing 2 Shire Apples, 1 Cinnamon and 1 Honey. You can buy these if you need them, though I already had some honey on hand from my foraging. Cook, mix and roast everything until you have what Esmerelda needs.

2) Bring the food she ordered to Esmerelda Burrows.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you are that much closer to completing the Short Order Cook quest.
