Hillmen of the North

General Quest

Arohir is concerned about the presence of the Hillmen that are guarding the eastern entrance to the Ram Duath. He wants you to bring him some of the brooches they wear, in order to help him figure out their ranking order.

NOTE: For questal efficiency, you may wish to work on the quest Staunching the Flow at the same time as this one.

STEPS:

1) Collect 12 Hillman brooches. While the quest journal leads you to believe this Hillman encampment is "near the mouth of the eastern entrance to Ram Duath", it isn't. It is indeed northeast of town, and is just part the forested area of Nan Amlug East in the northeast part of the map. You'll pass through a couple of entryways with some Hoar Mantles grazing around, and then you'll enter Ost Crithlanc, where the Hillmen are. You'll encounter level 35 mobs, Hillmen Bondsman and Hillmen Skirmishers (7.4s, 35.3w).

Some can be singly pulled, some will come in groups of two or three. The brooches are called Angamarim-brooches, and not every Hillman will drop one. If you wish to avoid the possible multiple-pull situation of the initial encampment, continue to the east and down a hill. You'll enter a valley with trees and plenty of Hillmen Bondmen to go around (7.9s, 34.5w).

2) Bring the brooches back to Arohir.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, War and Famine.
