Wilderness by Ost Guruth

Class: Hunter Quest

This is the quest that grants you the ability to return (with your fellowship) to Ost Guruth.

Gaellant tells you that in order to learn the path to Ost Guruth, you should speak with a certain Eglain.

STEPS:

1) Talk to Trumswith. Gaellant tells you:

"Look for Trumswith, one of the Eglain that makes his home at Ost Guruth, the Ruin-hold in the Lone-lands. He will teach you how to make your way quickly through the wilderness of that place."

Use your preferred method of getting to Ost Guruth via Esteldin, and you'll find Trumswith just a tad northwest of the milestone in town (31.4s, 29.6w). Trumswith is happy to teach you a special Huntery skill (the Ost Guruth Guide skill), but you must first prove you are worthy of it.

2) Talk to Hogahild. Trumswith tells you:

"My sister Hogahild left Ost Guruth this morning. If you can find her trail, follow it until you meet with her. Ask her the name of the only beast I have ever hunted and yet spared, and I will teach you what I can."

He also gives you a bit of direction:

"Hogahild left Ost Guruth near Unni, the dwarf stable-master by the stairs. You can speak with him to get your bearings, but will then need to find her trail on your own."

Head out of town and southwest to get to Unni, who tells you:

"I did see Hogahild leave this morning. Lovely lass that Hogahild. Waved to me, she did! She was standing right over there, on those hills slightly east of here. If you're looking for her, I'd start your search to the east."

Travel east, towards Haragmar. You will soon come across some "subtle tracks" on the ground (32.2s, 29.1w). Double-click them to get your next hint:

"The trail here is quite clear to your skilled eyes. Whoever made this trail passed northeast."

Select "Continue Quest", and head to the northeast, of course! Do be aware of the monsters in the area; they are level 25ish. The next set of tracks is not far at all (31.9s, 28.7w).

From them you learn the following:

"The trail here is very confused, and the signs are difficult to read. You cannot tell in which direction the trail might continue from here."

Select "Continue Quest", and this time, with the benefit of my running around aimlessly just so you do not have to, head to the northeast, close to the hills of Haragmar. You'll find Hogahild there, and she is irked that her brother sent someone else after her (30.5s, 27.6w). At any rate, she tells you that the beast Trumswith spared is Trampletusk.

3) Talk to Trumswith. He is happy you have "proven yourself of worthy skill", and, true to his word, teaches you how to recall yourself and your fellowship members to Ost Guruth, happy day!

4) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, Guide to Ost Guruth, and either 3 Bow Chant: Foe-Finder or 3 Bow Chant: Shield-Bane.
