Master of the Black Tide

General Quest

Arohir has learned that two Orc generals exist, and he wants you to kill one of them, and bring him "back a token of this armour as evidence that you have completed the task."

NOTE: For your comparison purposes, here was my fellowship composition: Myself, a level 38 Hunter; Pasanda, a level 40 Minstrel; Moethias, a level 38 Champion; Drakkan, a level 40 Hunter; Brasse, a level 35 Guardian; and Grif, a level 33 Captain. We were well matched for this difficult area, though we did wipe once within Zaukil's tent before succeeding. Many thanks for the help with this quest!

NOTE: For questal efficiency, I recommend doing the Siege-Master quest at the same time as this one, for you will likely encounter Pakonka more than once on your way to find Zaukil.

STEPS:

1) Defeat Zaukil. Collect the Uruk-general's armour. Arohir tells you:

"Search for the general on the hill overlooking the fields and slay him."

Further, the quest log offers this information:

"The Uruk-general can be found atop a hill at the heart of the Orc-encampment in Dol Dinen, southeast of Esteldin."

You will be killing hordes of Elites (mostly in the mid 30s for their level) before you reach Zaukil. Follow the road that leads south to the Dol Dinen area. Next, go into a fort that is guarded by a Troll and some others. This area leads further up into the mountain, and into a section called Hisuk. Once inside, go uphill into another, large encampment. Fight your way through the center, then up a wooden ramp (16.s, 36.7w). Continue south up the hill. You will see Zaukil's tent ahead of you.




There is no time for dilly-dallying here. Kill the mobs, get inside the tent (16.5s, 37.2w), and then QUICKLY work your way clockwise around the tent. Kill all of the other groups of mobs before you attack Zaukil's group--respawn in this tent is not a pretty sight. Zaukil is a level 36 Elite-Master with 12,737 morale and 1,800 power. On each side of him stands a level 35 Elite Bone Speaker. Good luck!

2) Speak with Arohir.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, either Postolf, Balandram, or Kaukil's Doom, and you will now be able to take the next quest, A Leader Unveiled.
