Murder in the Ruins

General Quest

Helechir wants to know why his friends were killed, and urges you to warn another of his peers about the danger they may face.

NOTE: While this is a solo quest, I would recommend that you bring along a friend or two, to make it easier and more fun. Brasse, a level 37 Guardian, and myself, a level 39 Hunter, completed this quest together.

STEPS:

1) Talk to Glirion. Helechir tells you:

"Glirion is at a ruin atop one of the highest hills in Men Erain, overlooking the lake. You will have to go to some effort to work your way up through these highlands to find him, as only faint traces of the old roads through the hills still remain."

Glirion's location is in the little ruins on your in-game map that is directly south of the trees to the east of the words 'Men Erain' (17.8s, 64.9w). If that doesn't make sense, and it might not, here is pictorial evidence:

I did not much like the denseness of mobs and all those pesky flies in Men Erain, so after crossing the bridge at High King's Crossing I went east, to the Barandalf area. From here I cut across the overland heading southwest until I saw the building in the distance. As you approach, you will see a path (the same one you would be coming up if you came from the Men Erain area), and then the questy ring on your radar.

You are, of course, free to get there however you like! So, after you select "Continue Quest", you'll be defending him against the bad guys.

2) Defend Glirion. Glirion says:

"Look out! Here they come!"

By they, he means three level 39 Deadly Tomb-Robbers. After they are dead, Glirion says:

"Don't relax, we're still under attack."

Indeed, in come two Hardened Tomb-Robbers, level 38 and 39, and another Deadly Tomb-Robber, this one a level 40. When you've killed them, and kept Glirion alive, he says:

"I think that's the lot of them."

3) Talk to Helechir.

4) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Vengeance in the Ruins.
