Riddle-Game, The

General Quest

The Hall of Fire is within The Last Homely House in Rivendell. After you enter, turn left (north), and go inside the door. You'll see Bilbo next to a table, straight ahead of you.

Bilbo and Lindir are playing a riddle game, and invite you to join in.

STEPS:

1) Talk to Lindir. Bilbo says to you:

"Here is his latest:

'I often hold your hand, But I have no hands wherewith to hold.
I often sleep in summer, But I do my best when it grows cold.
I often lose my mate, But I feel no sorrow, if truth be told.'

If truth be told, I'm quite stumped! Speak to Lindir about it--it could be he has forgotten an important line or two."

Lindir is right next to Bilbo. He gives you a hint: "The answer to this riddle can be found here in Imladris. Just find the answer and bring it here to solve the riddle." Select "Continue Quest" to advance to the next step.

2) Find an item that solves the riddle and bring it back to Lindir. Now, this sounds like a glove to me, but where to find one? This won't show up as a ring on your radar, so just head to Elrond's Stables in the west of town and pick up some Work-gloves from a table (29.3s, 6.8w). Lindir is pleased to see them and remarks:

"The answer fits like a glove, does it not?"

3) After you select "Finish Now", you get XP, and you will now be able to take the next quest, The Riddle-Maker.
