Frodo's Burden
General QuestElrond's Library is within The Last Homely House in Rivendell. After you enter, go up the ramp (straight ahead), and then go up the next ramp. The door to the library is there, on the third floor. The library itself has two floors, and you'll find Gandalf on the lower level, standing next to a table and Elrond.
Gandalf tells you that the hobbit Frodo will be leaving Rivendell soon to embark upon a secret and important journey. He wants you to speak with Frodo and determine his mood and mind-set.
STEPS:
1) Talk to Frodo Baggins. Gandalf tells you:
"Speak with Frodo, tell him of your adventures, and return to me with your thoughts on his mood."
Frodo is standing just outside The Last Homely House (29.7s, 3.5w). Frodo wants to talk a walk with you and chat. Select "Continue Quest" to go to the next step.
2) Talk to Frodo. When you are ready to chat it up with Frodo, select "Travel Now". You'll be sent to an instance of The Last Homely House and Rivendell. A voice intones:
"I am concerned for Frodo, for he bears a great burden. It is my hope that those whom I have sent to watch over the hobbit will determine if his mind remains strong enough for the taks for which he has been chosen..."
Frodo is just ahead of you. Select "Continue Quest" to advance to the next step.
3) Walk with Frodo. Now begins your extremely slow walk and one-sided talk with Frodo. My advice: put Frodo on AUTO FOLLOW. You'll have time to get a drink and stuff. Here is what he says to you:
Have you been in Rivendell long?
Sam thinks it a queer place, but I think he likes it too.
Do you like being an adventurer?
I used to wish I could have adventures, like Bilbo did!
My own adventure wasn't like Bilbo's at all.
At this point I kept waiting to be jumped by some nasty evil-doers, but he just kept on walking. He continued chatting away:
It is so beautiful. It is nothing like the Shire, though.
I'm sorry. I am not very good company tonight, am I?
There is something I need to do, but...I am afraid.
I am afraid for my friends. They love me too much to let me do this myself.
I almost wish they didn't.
I don't mean that. I should be happy that I have such good friends!
I am sure there's nothing to worry about.
I will have many strong protectors, after all. Master Elrond did not wish for me to be alone.
And Gandalf will be with me, too.
He would never let anything happen to me.
Now Frodo stops and Sam comes running towards us, breaking our magical moment:
Sam says: "Mr. Frodo! Mr. Frodo!"
Sam says: "There you are, Mr. Frodo! You shouldn't go off by yourself, you know."
4) Talk to Frodo. Frodo has quite enjoyed your walk, and tells you that he "feels much better now." Select "Finish Now" to advance to the next step of the quest, and then speak with him again and select "Travel Now" to leave the instance.
5) Talk to Gandalf. Gandalf is satisfied with Frodo's peace of mind.
6) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get XP and Gandalf's Thanks.
