Thief-Takers, The

General Quest

Balchelos wants to really crack down on the plethora of tomb-robbers around, and you're going to help him do so.

NOTE: While this is a *fellowship* quest, you can do this solo or with a duo. See the specific tactics required within the write-up.

STEPS:

1) Defeat 10 Veteran Tomb-robbers. Defeat 10 Scouting Tomb-robbers. Note 3 relic-crates. Balchelos tells you:

"A large force of tomb-robbers have come to Rantost, another island further to the north, from which they plan their attacks. I ask you and your allies to scout their camp on Rantost while my brethren and I plan a large-scale attack."

You'll be killing bad guys and looking for crates of relics. Either swim northeast from Tinnudir to get to the island of Tyrn Fornech, or take the coastline up and swim over when you get close. I apparently got some percentage done with this quest before I started working on it in earnest, so note that you do not HAVE to get the tomb-robber kills from the ruins of Rantost.

On the island are plenty of both kinds of normal-type Tomb-robbers, with levels ranging from 35-37ish (6.9s, 70.4w). The crates, however, you will have to venture to Rantost to take note of. They are in the middle of the ruins, at the top of some stairs.



All three of the crates you need are conveniently right next to each other. BEWARE, though--after you double-click and finish noting one, two Elusive Tomb-Robbers, level 37-38 ELITES jump you with the war cry of:

"Hey, what are you doing? That's our loot!"

What you should do is clear the path to the stairs (and the crates) so there are no mobs in your way. In the way of what? Well, in the way of you screaming down the stairs after the Elites pop up on your butt!

Basically, clear the area of normal bad guys, run up and collect a relic-crate (7.2s, 69.9w), immediately after that run back down the stairs and out to safety. The Elites that mysteriously spawned disappear after you get out of their range, so you are able to do this for each of the three crates you need!

2) Talk to Balchelos.

3) After you speak with them and select "Finish Now", you get your coin reward, XP, Superior Salted Beef Delights, Superior Hobbiton Omelet, Superior Roasted Chicken, either 2 Refined Athelas Extracts or 2 Refined Celebrant Ointments, and you will now be able to take the next quest, Thief-Taker's Bane.
